Thumbs down

I don’t know about the rest of the members, but I’m anticipating very good sales numbers for the Mustang in November. I think it was around 9500 in Oct. What is everyone else’s opinion?

I say around 10,000 - 11,000 -ish. Production is higher and more are on the lots, but it is still not at full production I dont think, especially with all of these holds.

It will however have to ramp up to 20,000/mo at this rate to reach the 180,000 goal.

So Ford sells more 2005 Mustangs in a month that Pontiac sells GTOs in a year? That's awesome!

Well, some people build cars and other people build something that "totally inhales rooster."

(The filters prevent me from saying what I want, so I had to borrow the phrase from MustangMan311)

A sale is when a customer signs on the dotted line and takes delivery. That is what is counted in the monthly sales numbers. Orders, whether they be a dealer inventory order or a customer special order are NOT included in the sales #s.

Vague though .... probably a lot of leftover 04s in there. I still see about a dozen or so 04 GTs going for 16K.

Lets put it this way, today in our logs, 33 people asked about mustang Gt's, figure an average walk-in ratio close of 1/3, thats 11 that could of moved today, just here. Our other dealer has tripple the staff, so figure about 20 for them(lower close ratio-more drive-by traffic near the malls). Thats 31+ cars sold. Guess how many Gt's we had on the lot this morning? Then tomorrow is saturday, guess how many Gt's came in today.......

Ford normally does NOT break out different model year #s when they report sales.

Yes, the October sales #'s were mostly 2004 Stangs as the 2005s were just strating to arrive at the dealers in October.

Nov, sales could be pretty big. Remember that AAI made a lot of '05 Stangs in September, but they all went into the holding lots until around Sept 28, which is when 1st volume shipments to dealers started. But as we know it can take 3 - 4 weeks for the cars to actually show up at the dealers, So my guess is that of the 9,232 Stangs sold in October, less than 1,000 of them were '05s.

So back to November. Let's say the dealers clear out 5,000 leftover 04s and they deliver 8,000 '05s which would be 13,000 sales for the month.

But 13,000 is not any great shakes. The best month for Mustang sales in the past few years was May 2003 with sales of 16,266.

I'm sure plenty of people have paid more than MSRP, none of which are users here, I'd suspect

The question has been answered.

Mustang sales for November 04 were 12,816
Almost exactly what my prediction was ( 13,000 - see my post above).

That was only a 12% increase over November 2003, but Ford is crowing that retail sales for the Stang were up 50% over last year. The fall is usually when fleet customers take delivery of new cars, so it sounds like Ford is not allocating very many '05 Stangs to fleet customers. (either that or fleet customers hate the new stang).

A lot of BS in that article:

The GTO, built in Melbourne, suffered from early distribution problems when it was introduced late last year, after Pontiac promised all its 2,700 dealerships at least one car. As a result too many sat unsold in snow-bound northern dealers while Californian outlets were "starved", GM said.
Let's say that GM didn't ship any GTOs to snow-bound states and instead shipped those 1,200 GTOs to CA and sun-belt states.

That would mean that would mean GM may have sold 11,800 GTOs this year instead of the 10,617 GTOs Pontiac has actually sold (Jan 1 - Nov 30, 04). That would NOT have made ANY difference between success and failure of the GTO.
