I was just reading this magazine in my local bookstore and figured I'd sum up what Shelby said. I havn't seen this posted around yet so don't qoute me as I'm writing this via my bad memory.
They asked him if there would be a new Shelby Mustang two or three times in the article. He kept sidestepping the question with indirect answers, neither yes or no, and that it was up to Ford to decide what they want to do with the car. I got the impression that he didn't think Ford had made up their mind.
They asked Shelby if he is staying at Ford and he said he is there to finish his career. He said after the new Cobra and Ford GT is released there are a few other projects they are looking at but wouldn't name anything specific.
They tried again to ask if there would be a new Shelby Mustang but they stopped the question short and said, "I guess you have already answered that". Shelby said yes he did. Then the interviewer said, "Well then, do you like the new Ford Mustang"?
"Let's put it this way, if they were to make a new Mustang with my name on it, I better like it." - C. Shelby
They also asked him his thoughts on the subject of the GT500E and the other contiuation . They told him it was a big issue among people regarding them being labeled as real Shelby's.

Oops sorry guys I got kicked offline somehow and my post was not complete.
Anyway to continue ....
Shelby said he doesnt see the new Gt500e as having the same heritage or even future potential value as the 67-68 cars. He only agreed to the cars because he liked what it looked like and he liked the work that the company was doing on them. He liked the idea of bringing the classic bodystyle to modern day performance specs.
Brad, I didn't buy the book but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as I don't have a scanner! Doh!!!
I just read the article real quick, as I was excited to see what Shelby had to say, and didn't look at any pictures or sketches. I'll check again after work tommorow.

yeah it will be a shame, like when Larry Shinoda or Lee Iaocca(sp) still wish they had done an appropriate Boss to commemorate what he did with ford. maybe they will now with the new body style. i love the Boss MUstangs they are so subtle looking compared to shelby's IMO amost sleeper like. they are like the LX 5.0's of the 80's and 90's. so unassuming until you line up next to one

That article is excellent. Shelby said he liked the quality of the GT500E's. I seen one at the Ford 100th and the quality wasn't that good to me. The engine compartment was poorly done. I'm not trying to Eleanor bash, I'm neutral about if I like the car or not. I was just wonder if anyone else who has seen these cars noticed the poor quality.

Unfortunately, probably true. So he might as well go out with a home run. I can only hope.

Hey guys I got to the store and had a chance to check out the Shelby concept drawing that Brad had heard about. I don't remember who got credit for the drawing but they ripped Vyto off big time. It looked exactly like this ....

Lingenfelter is dead?
Lingenfelter is dead?
Lingenfelter was racing R.J. Simrock in the semifinals of the Mazda NHRA Sport Compact World Finals at Pomona Raceway when he lost control of his Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Cavalier, crossed the centerline, and hit the guardwall in the opposite lane. According to witnesses, it appeared that Lingenfelter may have been knocked unconscious upon impact, as his car proceeded off the end of the track under power before coming to rest against a safety barrier at t"rack's end. dog gone Chevy coffen on wheels... no wonder he was killing those things are the biggest POS on the streets. if i wanted brand new Cavalier all id have to pay here in Edmonton is $9000 CDN yes thats right CDN all because they are so pooty and the fact that Chevy set the cars privce tag at $18000 but they end up taking 50% of it off the top as a price incentive to buy the POS in the first place.
i feel for Lingenfelter big time now... thats just not the way to go down in history... (i dont mean the crashing and dieing part but the fact that happened in a Cavalier...)
