Exclamation Mustang Hold?

There has been some discussion about the Shelby GT-500's being held by Ford. Ford denies any hold, but Shelby deliveries have been delayed by weeks. Friday, my salesman told me that the hold had been expanded to include ALL MUSTANGS. I haven't heard anything, but when I called ERL today about my 2007 Premium GT, my ETA had changed from 9/27 to 10/3 while the build week remains the same. Now I can't help but wonder if my salesman was right. Does anyone know of a mustang hold? Has anyone else had there ETA change in the last week?

My build week is 09/11. My ETA changed from the week of 09/23 to the week of 09/29. Same week in my opinion. I've seen this before on here where someone's ETA gets pushed back a few days. I don't see it as anything significant.

I just got my ETA for the first time this last Friday. Build week stayed the same, 9/18. ETA is 10/1.

Got the Car 2 weeks ago. The ETA moved back to the week of Sept 3, originally it was week of Aug 27, but I ended up getting if Thursday August 30. Off course I picked it up at the rail yard. If I had waited for it to get to the dealer it would have been closer to the 3rd.

ERL said mine was built and shipped as of 09/12. It had a build week of 09/11 so I don't think the hold includes ALL MUSTANGS.

Unhappy Order Update

Okay, so maybe there is no hold on all mustangs, but something is definitely up with my order. I have the order number 0001 and priority 10. I ordered my car (8/3) exactly one week after another customer ordered a mustang from the same dealership. They have been driving their car all week. Mine has yet to be built. ERL continues to say my car is scheduled to be built the week of 9/11 with an ETA of 10/3 and that's as of 4:15 pm today (Friday). Not satisfied, I called Ford (customer service?) and asked for an update. They claim they have NO information on the status except that the ETA is now the week of 10/10!!!

I did notice that ERL no longer says locked in. What does this mean? Are cars assembled on the weekend? I fail to understand what is prolonging my agony. Anyone have better information?

This is from the Blue Oval forums post on how vehicles get built at Ford. You may have already read all this before, it won't give you the answer to what is necessarily going on but at least it is informative on how the process works. Maybe you can go sit with the dealer at the computer while they pull the status of your order and you'll see something on their screen?

Matl HOLD - unit can't schedule something is not availble. for example, my Harley F-250 is in this status as production doesn't start until 11/3/03

Submitted to plant- Unit assigend a VIN and assy plant, plant is assigning build date.

Scheduled- has a build date and a vin

Locked in- Changes can no longer be made to this order, unit is either close to being built, or at the end of the year they lock in orders early so they don't have left over parts between model years.

Bucked- Unit is close to production, its my understanding that this mean the frame is on a Buck thats used to roll it down the line.

Produced- Unit is built

Rel from plant- Unit is built and through inspection, avaible to ship. May also say Rel to Rail, or rel to convoy depending on location

ttgxx7837934- or some weird number like this means its on a rail car and thats the number.

Arrived at ramp XX- has arrived at the rail head and been unloaded, the XX is a usually a number and letter. Mine go to 6P (kansas City) or 4T (joliet, IL)

************************************************** *************************
Some things learned from calling ERL so many times...
************************************************** *************************
- When ERL says your vehicle has been scheduled for production the week of '../../..'
It's always a Monday. Just basically giving that particular week a name. Don't get hung up on strange
date orders. You'll probably hear something like as of 12/21 your unit is scheduled for production on
12/19. Just be happy your car's birthday is near.

- When ERL says your vehicle is "locked in for production on '../../..'" that is your tentative production
date. Your Blend Date is a week before that (you can get your sticker then). (You've probably been
blended at least sequenced, I can't remember.)

************************************************** *************************
What are all the different Production Stages, and what do they mean?
************************************************** *************************
Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order.
When the order is received from the dealers

Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created.
When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered

Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built.
When they figure what week that parts will be able to be delivered to the plant to build the vehicle

Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built.
When they figure what day that parts can be at the plant to build the vehicle

Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day.
When they figure the specific order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.

Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle
Your unit has been built!

Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping
Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)

Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant
Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer

Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle
Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy

Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle
You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

Smile Order Update, Part II

So I called ERL again a few moments ago (~11:00 pm EST). If the Evil Robot Lady is to be believed, my GT was released 9/14/2006! The ETA is now 9/24/2006! While I am relieved (and feel just a little silly), I am still perplexed. Shouldn't Ford customer service have known the build date and that the car had been or was soon to be released? ERL has changed the ETA so many times I have no doubt the actual arrival will come as a complete surprise.

I appreciate all the information everyone has shared. The information at Blue Oval Forums is invaluable and always worth reviewing. If only ERL was as straight forward.

Can anyone tell me how I can get the actual dates for sequence, blend, and produced (built)? Would my dealer's computer have the info?

TIA
