Mustang 15th most stolen car
#1
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released data on the most stolen cars. The Mustang comes in 15th out of 217 with 4.1579 cars stolen per 1,000.

Is the 2005 alarm system adequate? What are people who live in high theft areas doing to protect their cars? My 1987 GT was stolen 3 times in 2 years. First time it was recovered with minor damages. The second time it was recovered with little left but was repaired by my insurance company. The third time they totalled it. This was when I was living in Boston.

Well new alarm is supposed to have a lot more sensors etc. I doubt 2005 mustangs are among the most stolen, its older mustangs that are easier to steal. Newer ones are getting harder for sure. So I do recommend the active alarm with any new mustang.

at least it's the 15th and not the most stolen, like that Honda Accord, Honda Civic, etc.
but, yeah.... I'll bet it's not the 2005.... Are there even enough on the road yet to get a good indication?
Has anyone on this site had their 05 stolen yet?

I think it's the older ones (FOXs in particular) I've seen someone open the door & start the car with the same screw driver. (They did it to a '90 GT just to show how easy it was.

The data is from 2003 but it isn't clear whether it includes cars stolen from other model years. My guess would be it isn't because it has the number produced to get a rate per 1000 stolen. This wouldn't make sense if it included all previous model years.
