There is a book circulating at target called Ford Mustang- Forty years of fun

It has a silver metallic cover with the pony and bars on it and runs $19.99.

It covers all developments of the mustang from day one, has tons of concepts from all years and gives great insight into the 05. It is up to date as if it was written last month(not one of those that ends with 05 clay models). Some of the interesting stuff is really the time frame for the 05, and how far allong they were even by 2001, and shows how close they were at that point. Even goes into a few design studies with ducktails. Has great info and interviews with J Mays and HTT. It is from the editors of consumer guide. One of the most comprehensive history books on the car at an awesome price. This is the book I buy for all my 05 customers and mail to them. Great full color book with tons of info and pics. Its about 260 pages. It can not be found on amazon for some reason, it may be too new or exclusive to certain stores. A lot of books like this have short runs, so get out there and get it!

Thanks for the excellent gift idea!

I also recommend "Mustang A New Breed of Pony Car 2005" by Matt DeLorenzo". It has some great info and I ordered from Walmart for $18.19.

I've been browsing all the new stang books out there, this one just has such a good level of balance of information, history, and eye candy. Even the cover is pretty enough to just put a bow on that and be done with it. I couldnt even find a spelling error or any misinformation at all.

Since it is published by Consumer Guide, the book Kevin recommends is probably an update of the book FoMoCo sent out to all buyers of 1999 Mustangs. If it is indeed an update to this book, I would say this is required reading for all the faithful. Tons of information, Lots of great photos, and production info and stats. Good stuff, and lots of it!

<edit>The 1999 edition of this book had a navy blue dust jacket, with the 35th anniversary Mustang/tribar logo on the cover. I'll post a photo of the cover in case anyone's interested. Just tried searching Amazon and eBay, and couldn't find this edition in either place. </edit>

I saw it at Target, too. I have to agree with Kevinb120 - it's a must read! There's an earlier thread on the book Donna mentioned. I have it. It is great - all focused on the 2005.

I picked up this book tonight at Target, and it is as Kevinb120 says. In fact, of the several Mustang books / magazines that I own or have viewed, this is by far the best historical anthology on the Mustang I have seen.

It is thorough, accurate, and loaded with pictures most of which I've never seen before. It includes tonsof concept photos of artist renderings and clay models of Mustang designs through the years. Great narratives about behind the scenes maneuvering at Ford.

Very interesting, a great reference book, and value priced at $20.

Would make a swell Christmas gift.

Thanks, Kevinb, for the tip on this one. [And giving it to your customers, now that's a really classy move.]

Help. There's not a Target here, WalMart doesn't have it or is out and I couldn't find any of them on either of their websites.

Jason

EDIT: Found it on the Consumer Guide website, but for $25 + s/h

I read through some of Ford Mustang- Forty Years of Fun yesterday. The photos and clay models were cool. I really liked how they had *sidebars* that filled up good chunks of pages from members of the team that brought it from an idea to a production vehicle, in their own words.
