MPG lets talk

My last tank I got about 260 miles out of it.

but I was not just normal daily driving. I thought I would record and take pictures of it so people would not keep saying

My goal is to see what all of us can do to imporve our mpg and not flame.

I drove from Flagstaff AZ to phoenix and made 12 passes at the drags and just over 2 hours on the road course.

just out of flagstaff

just got inot phoenix

finished for the night at the drags

fueling for the return trip to flag

it freaks me out when people say they get mid teens or just over 20 highway. I get about 380 per tank on normal highway trips and 17ish city.

I've got a pic where it reads like 71 MPG. Lol. Since I started using ethanol free on premium tune I have been getting 24.3. With ethanol it was more like 22.4.

I took alot of pics so you can see the miles on the trip and car to show I wasnt cheating by reseting anything. and you can see by the mph I wasnt going easy on it.

Well, I used to get that mileage until I installed the Whipple. I don't know if it's my right foot or the supercharger. But, it's fun!

I do not see the screen you are showing with miles and mpg. Am I missing a setting or is it a Shelby thing? My mpg screen reads 16 lol.

You can definitely get decent mileage out of these things if you drive them correctly.

With 4.10's, CMDP's, JLT, Bassani catted x and mufflers with a Chris Rose SCT tune, I average about 22mpg mostly city.

I make one highway trip per week which is about 45 miles one way. The rest is all city. I've seen a high of 29mpg average on a mostly highway tank.

The lowest I've ever averages was 19.5 on an all city tank.

I get 16 in the city and 24 on the highway. With a heavy foot in the city and 80 mph on I-10.

Just got back from a quick weekend trip to the beach: four hours, 240 miles, give or take: Trip south I got 26.5 MPG, using cruise control set to 80 MPH (77 MPH indicated on GPS) half on the interstate, a little slower on the second half on country roads. Filled up as soon as I got there, drove around town about 90 miles, then headed home. Put another ~25 miles around town on the tank before I fuelled up this morning. This time, with over 100 miles of city driving in addition to the road trip, got 24.3 MPG. I'm sure I could have done better if I'd set the cruise control at 65-70 MPH. This is in my 2009 sixxer, 5AT.

My lifetiime average over 110 tanks is 21.2 MPG.

Yeah, I'm a little OCD about tracking my fuel consumption...

That doesn't shock me, going down the mountain from Flagstaff to Phoenix I can get similar MPG at that speed with 4:10's as well. With these gears I averaged 24.6 MPG from Phoenix to Oklahoma City door to door driving I-17 and I-40 typically at 75-80 MPH. I averaged 25.7 on the way back, though the trip down the hill clearly helped with that.

I drive 26 miles in bumper to bumper stop and go commute traffic each way every day, then some good sprints to 80+ when the traffic frees up. I'm now at 94K miles on the car and I have averaged between 20 and 21 MPG per tank every single tank I've ever put in the car under those conditions. I have no idea how people get low teens with the factory gears.

Like you, I don't baby this car at all. People are always shocked when I show them my average MPG.

I built and installed a rear diffuser. I gained 1.2 avg mpg. Not bad for $6 in aluminum and a couple hours.

I get between 19(no cruise)-22(cruise control set on the hwy part of my commute) consitently, combined city/hwy. Best yet was about 25mpg heading out to my parent's house in eastern CO, cruise set at 80, about 140 miles out. Motor's got 60K on it, though; don't know if that has much of an effect, since I didn't own this car new. But i don't get much better outa the winter car (Honda Element), with half the power.....course, the Element's got the aerodynamics of a brick....
