MPG

What is everyone getting for MPG? I just took a trip to Maine and was getting 26mpg with an avergage spped(per trip computer) of 69mph. I was doing anywhere from 75-85 mph, so I think for a great car like my '07 GT/CS with 300hp all stock is great.... any thoughts??

I know there are several posts about what people are getting for MPG in the GT, GT/CS. Depending on how heavy your foot is your mileage will vary, drastically. On average I get 24-25mpg combined city/highway driving.

24MPG city and hiway...29MPG hiway @75mph.I use cruize control all the time.I also notice an MPG gain after changing to full synthetic in the engine, trans and rear end. I still thrash it on the on-ramps but have really changed my driving habits on the hiway.

I get around 27mpg at 55mph, 25 at 65, 22 at 75. Taller rear tires (equal to a 3.37 vice 3.55), full synthetic oil in tranny, engine, rear end, and lighter drive shaft and flywheel all helped.

Would get better but the drag of the KB takes out about 2mpg, but worth if since it adds 150hp.

pilatti1, I started a topic awhile back about the MPG we got on a trip here in California of over 400 miles. I got 23.7 mgp with our stock '07 GT convertible. We drove about the speed you did on the highway. At least 90% were highway miles.

I'll continue to keep track of our gas mileage and share it with everyone from time to time.

Thanks pilatti1.

Just got home from Steamboat and avergaed 26-28, over the huge slopes and I have the Ford Racing Tune. Who needs a ricer when you can have good mileage and the real deal too. My 89 still gets around 25 mpg and it has over 200,000 miles on her.

I agree jacostang, car is great with gas mileage. Furthest I have taken my mustang was a 175 mile highway trip in which I averaged 29 mpg with nothing but an o/r h on 3.55 gears. City/highway driving I average 22-25 mpg while city can average anywhere from 13-15 mpg (not sure if that's too low ).

I only get about 18 mpg. I have a cai and drive mostly highway (speed limit 55) so I cruise at 60. What am I doing wrong? (usually shift between 2500-3000 rpm)

Thanks for all the follow up info. I usually get about 18mpg around town but also am heavy on the gas pedal when taking off. I am VERY pleased that I got 26 on a highway trip going about 75-80.

I've been getting about 27-28 mpg highway. Does anyone know if an aluminum driveshaft would help at all, being that they are so much lighter?

Oh yes, you could see up to 2 mpg from an aluminum piece. Stock is a rotating boat anchor.

I've been on the fence with this mod for a really long time and I think I'm going to take the plunge soon. With the fun factor and if there is any gas savings, I'm in.

Probably telling the Truth.

I get 20 in the city and 25 on the highway and that is cruising between 80-90 and still having fun occasionally.

I agree. The last two tanks of fuel, resetting the 'Liters used per 100 Kilometers' gauge, I've been using 12.8L/100Km. That converts to roughly 22MPG. That's the best city mileage I've ever got by adjusting driving habits. Usually i was in the 16L/100Km range. I take off rather quickly still as I hate being in a pack. However, I now use 4th in the 35mph range and 5th just over 43mph. This is almost lugging the engine at around 1200rpm but the mileage bars on the IUP show the most for best mileage. 5speed manual/3.55's.

I've been getting 18.9 mpg with an average speed of 25mph on suburban surface streets. I don't have a lead foot (maybe my wife does) but that's pretty much what I expected for "city" driving.
