I got Nothing to back this info yet. Believe me I am Looking. But I do Hear the GT/CS will be Getting More Special in 08. I would Guess a 40th Anniversary Edition at the very Least.

Sorry, but in this shot it's definitely body color.
Did a couple of screen caps of my own...adjusted the brightness, contrast and color saturation of the images, then color sampled them in Photoshop. The program doesn't lie; that area between the back lights came up a muddy shade of olive. Here's one of the original screencaps I took, sans adjustment. You can even see quite clearly here that the area between the tail lights is body colored - though I admit that the lights themselves have black frames around them.

I would submit that since there was more than one car used for the sequence, that there might have been slight differences between the stunt car and the "beauty" cars, because I agree that one of those other screen caps you posted does appear black between the lights.
A new Bullitt mystery to solve.

Interesting...some of cars may have had black between taillights while others didn't. Multiple but slightly different cars would explain the discrepancy in the vidcaps.

With the back panel being concaved, I'm wondering if it isn't some sort of anti-glare paint to avoid any chance of large sun glint destroying a shot.
