I recently ordered an 06 Tungsten Grey GT. After seeing everyone flip out that their might be a hint of lavender, or purple, or even pink in the clearcoat I decided I better go look to see if I still wanted the color. Mine will be Tungsten after seeing it. Here are some pictures. The dealership (World Ford in Kennesaw, GA) has this TG GT hidden because someone offered $9,000 over sticker and is picking it up today. The salesman hid it so no one would sell it out from under him. The car was a little dirty, but no the less it still looked great.

Hmm...I don't see any blue, purple, red at all. Do you?

Hate to say it, but maybe Ford's figuring out how to lay down this color as they go. Perhaps the only good reason to be happy that I'm still C/U.

This is TOO wierd ! I have seen 3 Tungstens now at different dealers and in different lighting conditions. They look nothing like these pics. They clearly are lavender in all lighting conditions. To me, THESE pics are as the car should look! Could Ford have screwed up a batch of cars and have them turn out lavender? I really am confused. If I had seen this car, I would have stayed with Tungsten.

You didn't by chance get a vin number off that car did you? Would be interresting to try to ascertain a build date on yours to the ones I have seen.

Remember not to rely on pictures.
If you look at the second to last picture, near the gas door, you can see how the jpeg artifacts go to blue and red. The speckles are there. Again, compare it to a color you know - the spokes on the bullitts.
It's been suggested that Ford might be changing the mix/procedure for this color as they go. I highly doubt that, but anything is possible. As I stated elsewhere I've seen two WVB side by side that were not the same color, one was deeper blue than the other. Different build dates. They may allow for some variation.
All that said, do you want to risk that your grey order may or may not show up as lavender?

I didn't get the VIN, but the number on the upper right hand corner of the sticker was "106343" If that helps at all. The car was delivered to Ford on 8/26 if you want to try and figure a build time frame.

And here's 1 more side pic I forgot.

Here are some more pics of a V6 TG next to satin silver. I walked around the lot, and almost every car, every color had bumpers that slightly mismatched. I'm not so sure it wasn't different material surfaces is it was different shades of paint. Anyways, here's a few more:

And lastly, the special grill.......

I think it's the same color but it's just a lighting thing. look at the pic of the sticker..it has a lavender hue. It's a darker pic. I think in really bright sunlight it will look good but the darker it gets, barney shows up. my girlfriends mazda 3 is the same way. color looks awesome when it's really bright and sunny outside but looks purplish in the garage where it's darker.
