man those two cars look great togeather. Someday I can only hope to own a 65 fastback as nice as that car you have. And I can never get enough of looking at WB 05's. I love that color and can't wait until nicer weather here in Wi. so I can go test one out. Thanks for the pic of the cars nose to nose, my new background
KungFuDan: Cool !! Thanks for the compliment.

"Some day" for me came at age 46; that was almost 3 years ago. Hang in there, your time will come, just takes patience, almost grown kids, a very understanding spouse and a lot of blessings.

Mike,

Both cars look great! I won't be able to pose the 66 with the 05 as she is up on blocks in the garage. Like you, the 05 will have to sit outside. Unlike you, I can't drive the 66 for some time. In my apparent attempt to emulate you, I also went with the pony caps and the exhaust tips. Now if I could just get the dang car.......
Drew: You have impeccable taste in cars !! I really like the 66 GT in Emberglo.

You'll be off the blocks in no time, then you'll be off and running.

I can't attach a picture even in another thread. Is there a "lifetime" limit to attachments based upon size?

I can't believe I would have reached a lifetime limit.

Someone please advise. Is there some default setting I can change to allow more pics?
Can anyone help me with this technical / website question? One of the moderators perhaps? Please advise. Thanks.

Beautiful pair of cars Mike. Looks like one of the nicer 65 FB around. Too bad the 05 has to sit outside. Enjoy the rides and congratulations.

Very Nice pics. I like the bronze fast back. My dad has a 64 1/2 coupe in the same color. I 'll try to get some pics up when I get my 05. But very nice

Mike,

Thanks for sharring your pictures of your cars! My brother had the exact same 65 Musthang that you have with white interior back in the 70's. HE SOLD IT TO BUY A SUPER BEETLE! WHat a shame huh? I was small then so I couldn't buy it (reason being why I am getting the 05). Now with these pictures I can show him that the 05 is larger then the 65 because he thinks the opposite. Nice cars!

Steve
Funny, from my perspective, the 65 looks longer and taller than the 05 which is something that surprised me. I always pegged the early Mustangs as being small cars whereas my 05 feels like a T-bird from behind the wheel! I tried to park in a "Small Car" spot at the mall yesterday and my nose hung out a foot from the spot! I moved it over to the SUV parking area where it fit in perfectly!

Your pics are beautiful. Love that 65!!

More pics: at the top, go to My Controls
then on the ride side of the page go to Manage Attachments
You will have to delete some of your older attachments

The only way around that is to link the pics from another web site as image attachements, I believe.

Third (of seven): Nose to nose...
Mike,
Thanks for sharing again your pictures with us. As much as I love my new '05, seeing your '65 again reminds me that this is the car that I had always dreamed of buying. The lines of the fastback have always been my favorite. A year ago when Ford said they were definitely going retro with the '05, I knew I would be one of the first in line to have one. It is said your first love is the best, and I guess that saying holds true for my first love of the automobile, as was the '65 fastback 2+2. What a fine looking set of cars you have, and I congratulate you, :worship: over and over and over.

Looking at the nose to nose pic, I don't see how anyone could say the '05 was modeled after the 67/68. That pic clearly shows it is MOSTLY influenced by the 65/66 fastback.
Thanks for the pic. I'm sure I'll reference it many times in order to prove my point.

Yes---the 05 Stang is 6 inches longer, 1.5 inches wider than my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Of course, it is almost a foot and a half shorter in height.

I agree, the exterior just screams 65/66, especially without the spoiler. Notice how on both the 65 & the 05, the fastback roof line stops at the bottom of the glass, "top" of the trunk lid; vs. the 67/68 on which the fastback roofline went all the way to the tail end of the car (i.e. the edge of the trunk lid).

The interior has a lot of design cues from 67/68, especially the 2 large chrome trimmed dials, and the IUP airbag area (i.e. shades of the 67/68 brushed aluminum dash area on the Shelbys, autographed by Carroll Shelby).

They clearly took a lot of design cues from all of the 65 - 69 models.

Donna: Thanks for the compliment, and the tip on the pics. I deleted several old attachments, now let me try to attach one or two more....Nope, it still says...

THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND
The total filespace required to upload all the attached files is greater than your per post or global limit. Please reduce the number of attachments or the size of the attachments.

I was only at about 30% of capacity in My Controls; after deleting I am at 19% (1.82mb out of 9.77mb).

Any other ideas on how to be able to attach more pics, preferably to this thread but even to a new thread (it won't let me do that either) ??

I agree the whole dash is 67/68. (probably why I don't like it too much)
The exterior "lines" are 65/66 and the overall "shape" of the car is from 69/70. (i.e. the bloated look)

I didn't care for the dash the very first time I saw it, but now I see it for its own unique design (vs cued from 67/68) and I like it, a lot, especially from the driver's seat.

You're also right--I think the rear looks a lot like the 1970 (more than the 69 & even thought the rear lights were recessed on the 70).

Overall, they did a great job of picking very stylish & attractive design cues from 65 - 70 models.

Only other way I know of, is to already have them on a web page and link the images from there.

How to link pics

Rod: They are two completely different experiences; both enjoyable, but different. Depends upon what you're in the mood for at the time; or what the event is.

I took the 65 out to two cruises this weekend, one Friday and one Saturday night.

My son drove the 2005 out to the second cruise Saturday night, so we had both of them out there by request of folks there who know us.

They both drew an audience of their own. Fun stuff.

Rod: How is your new redfire treating you?? I trust that you are glad you bought it off the lot 300 miles away and didn't wait??
