Thumbs up

I was just curious as to what modifications will affect the warranty to the car? This is my first BRAND new car and I'm not too sure which engine mods will void the warranty. Mainly referring to a Steeda supercharger.

99.9% engine mods will void your warrenty, and especially a supercharger. I think one of the only mods to the engine bay that will NOT void a warranty is a high flow air filter, i.e., K&N.

Unless you are in VERY good with a dealer . . .

When I got my Lightning 4 years ago, I basically scrapped the warranty a couple months later. I decided I'd take responsibility for my actions and put mods on it, without being too upset if I broke something and got voided for it.

It's a gamble. I'll probably do the same thing with this car too...

Modifications have to be shown to cause the problem to void a warranty claim. Usually underdrives and superchargers are targets, but not always.

I'll probably just have to wait and retain my warranty. How does Steeda make it happen? Do they pick up the warranty or does Ford give them leeway with warranty?

Can't that become a problem in-and-of-itself?

I've heard have persons having to take a great deal of time, and often legal actions to prove their innocence with a dealerships claims of an aftermarket part NOT being a cause of a faulty engine problems. Even in the aftermarket part has nothing to do with the problem.

I think Steeda warranties the equipment they install, and Ford warranties the original equipment. Since they work together in the knowledge transfer program, I imagine that's how Steeda does it.

Ya know, I was watching horse power tv on the spike channel. they featured a mod to a mustang I wonder if will void warranty. They used a chip or reprogramed the computer and added different pulleys adding 14 HP for around $400. They also added a high flow H- pipes, k&N air filter, Flowmasters. I don't remember If they added a throttle body. With all these mods they gained even more HP on top of the 14 HP gain. Not sure on the exact numbers but willing to bet at least 20 added HP total. I don't think any of these mods will effect the warranty.
correct me if I'm wrong

From what I have read/heard, it really depends on your dealer, and your relationship with the Service Manager, more than anything. Some let a lot go, while others will void the entire warranty for just having gears put in.
