I like the strut tower covers offered by some Mustang suppliers but in my case, I''ll eventually install a strut tower brace to stiffen up the cowl of my vert. I did''nt want to spend the money and use the covers for just a short time. In the meantime I wasn''t happy about the rusty shock/strut ends poking through the towers.
The fix: I cut 2 short pieces of leftover yellow hose to cover the threaded portion of the shock/strut ends and then bought a pack of grey "screw covers" from Home Depot (they''re actually vinyl Caplugs). You can find them in the drawers of oddball hardware in the fastener dept - 2 for 58¢. here is the before and after pics.

HP: Good job on this detail change! My earlier post shows how we did this on the CalStang. Installed new black lower shock bushings on the big strut bolts and then little white vinyl caplugs (from the hardware store), for the upper strut mount plate bolts. This cleanup fix is not for everyone, but was almost at zero cost. And we have had some very nice comments and also a few questions about how we did this, at some of the car shows. CalStang
Our fix for this, was more about covering up those very sharp and ugly threaded bolts. And cleaning up the unfinished look, there in the engine compartment. But covering them with some nice shiny aluminum spray paint, would work to eliminate the corrosion problem too! CalStang
