35% of the MUSTANGS for 2005 GT's and that 65% will be V6...............this might explain why some people are having a hard time locating and/or ordering a GT............they have 2 great articles in this months issue about the 2005 MUSTANG......one on its popluarity and the other on the V6 vs. the GT...........

Just thought I would pass that on. I thought it was interesting that only 35% would be GT's!!

That's not surprising really...that's pretty much what the stats are on the 2005MY (which is actually 62% and 38%).

Since they've now upped total production to 192,000, that comes out to 67,200 GTs. That's still quite a few. GM is struggling to sell just 12,000 GTOs.

More than likely, those GTO's will still be there after the 67,200 mustangs are sold.

Not really too much of a surprise. On the average.. the V6 out sells the GT. BUT right now with diehards ordering primarily the GT's, it's making it harder to find one on the lots.

Later this year and into the next model year.. I see it evening out again.. once they are given a chance to BOTH be on the dealers lot.

That is true Amy.
I knew the GT was more popular, but I had no idea about the % of each.

Well that works out to 13.4 GT's per Ford dealer on average. Wonder how many of them are coupes's and how many are verts??

My small town dealer got 3 GT's (one of them is mine) and has been told that he will get only one vert.

If you really think about it, 67,000 GT Mustangs are not alot considering how many people who are driving age that are in this country who is or will be interested in the car. This car has drawn a lot of different buyers to Ford dealerships who in the past would have never considered a Ford product, but now will. These are people who were import buyers (WRX, 350Z, EVO) or luxury sports coupe buyers (G35 especially). With these new buyers interested in this car this year but not last year, this adds more people to the list of buyers, hence making the car harder to get than last year.

Yes, the 2005 production is supposed to be about 12000 GTO's, which is based on 2004 sales. Another reaseon is the 2005 production year is supposed to stop in mid year, so the 2006's will be available by the fall, instead of January like the 05's. The UAW also limits how many cars GM can import.
