Hi Gang,

I just wanted to say "good-bye" to a great bunch and let you know how much I have appreciated reading the mail.

As some may recall, Ford accepted my order for a much anticipated '05 GT Premium Convertible on 11/1/03 but the dealer, who initially assigned a priority of 10, started fooling around with the priority, effectively delaying production, without the courtesy of communication.

After canceling the order, I placed an order for an '06 Corvette which I will pick-up at the factory Friday, October 14th (GM does not allow dealer interference with an order once accepted.

I am greeting this with mixed emotion as, I am sure you know, I have been a Stang man for a while. Frankly, had the dealership New Car Inventory Manager wanted me to have the '05 as much as I wanted it, I would be more than happy motivatin' the Stang today.

Anyway, should you come across a silver Corvette Coupe with a Georgia tag reading "REVIVAL", please do not hesitate to say "Hi".

Although a soon to be Corvette owner, I am still a big Mustang Fan. A great car with a great bunch of owners.

Sincerely,

Don (SeniorStang) Daubenmeyer

By the time I figured out what was happening, a re-order (even with help from the regional office in Atlanta) would have put me past my window of interest.

Sounds corny I know, but the dealer represents Ford in such activities and I place a high value on "intergriy".

Like I said, no reflection on the car, just the man that represented Ford to me.

Good luck with the vette. It is also a nice car, although too pricey for my tastes. To each their own, I guess I would have just ordered elsewhere.

Don-
You won't be dissapointed with the Vette, it's an awesome machine.
If it weren't for the addt'l cost, I'd get one in a heart beat.

The Corvette is an American icon, only #2 to Harley Davidson.

Good luck.

I think you should keep posting here, not too much flaming from what I've seen.

Can you say which dealer did this to you? I live in Marietta and I want to know wich one to avoid whenever I finally decide to bite the bullit
Thanks

Caio Don! Sorry to hear about yet another bad Ford dealer experience. People can say what they want about how Ford can't control the dealers, but one thing's for sure, they're hurting Ford's reputation. Good luck w/ the 'Vette, you can't go wrong w/ either car - they're both American Icons.

You're not alone in disappointing dealer experiences. The folks at the corvetteforum are a great bunch of folks, except for the few that don't think that there are other great cars besides the vette. The vette is a sweet and great-driving car and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I certainly looked at the new Vette and still ended up with my Mustang. Partly cost, partly styling, partly because the Mustang is what made me even want a new car. I must say, though, that if I had the money, I'd certainly have both! I don't think I'll ever sell my Mustang, but I wouldn't mind adding a Vette!

Oh, and thanks for this note. It shows class and I am sure is much appreciated.

A new Vette instead? I can't blame you a bit. I've always wanted a Vette and the new ones are the best yet AND an incredible bargain to boot! Still a little "spendy" as my brother in Minnesota would say. LOL

But I'm a big F/L/M fan....so when I win the lotttery I plan on getting a GT (40)!

Good Luck with the Vette.
Beautiful Car, Enjoy.

I understand the disappointment you experienced.
At my Age I wouldn't have waited another 5 months
for mine. Playing the waiting Game is not an Option.

Don't worry, you will still get to talk to Mustang owners
when you park in the far off reachs of the parking lot.
Enjoy your new car.

Good Luck with the Vette Don.

I waited for 5 months last year for mine to be built only to find out the dealer wanted 6k over msrp and backed out of my xplan in early Sept. I just went to another dealer who would except the xplan. I had to wait another 3 months but it was worth it.

Good luck with the Vette Don! The new one is quite nice. As you probably already know, there is no need for you to leave. I really wish Ford would put their foot down when it comes to dealers acting like this. It hurts Ford as much or more than it does the dealer.

You will not be disappointed.

hope you enjoy the new car Don. the corvette is a true performance bargain - just look at the other vehicles it is usually compared to. no need to apologize for your decision - the dealer who gave you the runaround should be apologizing to you and ford for the way they handled your order. gonna echo the other posts by saying ford may be hurt in the long term by this kind of shoddy treatment. i also wouldn't mind a C6 Vette - if i could afford one, make mine ZO6, please! yeah, i wish. anyhow, happy motoring!
