I hope the new Mustangs don't have the same Mazda 6s clutch issue. I had one of those and it needed a clutch in 6,000 miles. The replacement clutch started chattering at about 14,000 miles.
I dumped the car.

I would tend to agree, however, you know how global companies work these days. If they can save 2 cents buy purchasing clutch assemblies from a single supplier, they will do it. Just thought it possible that the same guys that screwed up the 6s clutch may be at work on these.

I too have a Mazda6 and I second that it is a very fine car. I plan to buy my first Mustang after the lease is up on it but in the mean time it puts a smile on my face each time I start it up.
Besides, you guys should be thanking Mazda. They have a lot to do with the excellent build quality of the new Mustang.
Also, the MAZDASPEED Mazda6 goes on sale next year. Twin turbo 2.3L I4, 274 HP and 280 ft-lbs, AWD, DSC, 6-speed MTX. However, it will be built in Japan due to its low volume. Should be quite a car. No match for the Mustang GT in a straight line but you can bet it will be able to catch up in the twisties.
It's tempting but there's no way I'm giving up my dream of owning a Mustang GT convertible. I've waited too long and the current model is too good to be true.

Considering that the Mazda 6 is Front Wheel Drive and shares absolutly NO Mechanical Components with the 05 I don't see how this could even be concievable. I wouldn't worry.

I spend a lot of time on Mazda 6 forums on web and I've never seen anyone complain about the clutch. I believe it's one of two things:
1. an isolated issue with your particular car
or
2. your driving style
I don't believe it's a design, or build quality issue with the 6.
