Marlboro Hot Laps w/ pics & Mustang Drifting vid

Ok, so I got invited to go the the Marlboro Hot Laps event.

At the event we got to ride in 3 cars, an IROC series Dodge Avenger stock car, a Panoz GTS (which features the same 4.6L mod engine as we have in our Stang GTs), and a 05 Mustang V6.

The stock car went around an oval track, and let me tell you being 3 ft. from the wall at 140 is quite intense!

The GTS took us around a road racing track, and that was fun because the drivers really fishtailed it around the corners and also that is the kind of racing I would like to do.

The Mustang took us out on a drift course and this was the most fun of the rides, even though I'm not really into drifting at all. I saw one female driver who I could tell was really getting on it, and I requested to ride with her, and then when I told her that she really dropped the hammer.

I recently started dating a girl and I think she really had fun at this event (especially in the Stang, she said they drove kinda like me, just crazier), so let me raise a cheers to the Mustang for bringing together my love life. They gave us a bunch of free stuff and free lunch as well!

Sorry I don't have more video, but my camera batteries went dead. There are a couple of videos here and I'll post the pics below (clickable thumbnails).

Sounds like a lot of fun ! You should re-consider your perspective on DRIFTING though. I go once a month and not only have a lot of fun; but, it's always good to know how to control that rear end when the car gets slideways ! I am going to get into Road Courses and Autocross this year too, (for the technical racing theory application). But D R I F T I N G is just some good ol-fashioned free for all fun ! (check out my drifting / youtube video)
