I saw this sticker on a V6 05 at the dealer where I bought my car. There wasnt any add on's like stripes or wheels. What is "market adjustment"? I purchased mine back in Dec and there wanst anything like that on the sticker.

It's nothing more than the dealer's extra markup due to the high demand.

dfn: "market adjustment" - I have a Mustang, and if you want it bad enough, you'll pay me extra just cause I said so.

1st of all I hope no V6 owners take offense to this because I am one of the very few GT owners that loves the V6 ant takes up for it on this site.

Now with that said I think I know one of the reasons that the V6 sits in these dealers lot and does nothing but gather dust. The reason is because most dealers have them marked up to 22, 23, and even up to 27 grand!! Im talking coupes by the way and not verts. So you would have to be crazy to pay that money when you can throw in another 2-3 grand and get a loaded GT. I got mine for 25 grand. Now jthats just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Its a game I guess. We will see what happens when everyone and their cousin is driving them in a couple of years. This high demand is doing nothing but hurting us owners. The harder its to get the more people will want to buy it. The more there is on the road the less they will be worth.

We will do whatever it takes to sell the V-6's as it earns extra allocation. We have been lucky getting retail GT's scheduled with our V-6 sales. The only mark-ups we have doen on the V-6's is for actual add ons like stripes and wheels.

I understand what you mean but some dealers put $50.00 stripes and $200-$300 wheels and mark the car up insanely like $1,500-3,000. What you dealers dont understand is that most consumers are not idiots. Those wheels and stripes dont make the car sale unless you get lucky with someone that does not know a thing about Mustangs or their value. IMO most consumers could care less about the stripes or the wheels. Let the car sale as is. I would rather pay less money and save up to do any mods such as wheels or stripes. I dont want to finance another $3,000-5,000 on top of what the value of the car is.

Where I just got my car from, the dealer had nothing but V6 Convertibles...every one of them had a $1500 Market Adjustment.

I would never a pay a markup on a car. The reason is because when I drive off the lot I am im instantly about $2,000 in the hole so why should I add another $1,500-3,000 to that $ amount. In the MSRP there is a built in profit for the dealer and the sales person's commision.

Exactly. Although I understand that purchasing a car is not an investment, you still don't want to lose your a** on one. If someone pays $6000 over MSRP for a GT vert, let's say $38,000, and borrow a great deal of it, one or two years down the road, they are going to be waaaaaay out of equity. Even far more so than the normal auto purchaser. When they sell it for $28,000 in two years after the market has been saturated, they are going to owe the bank a lot of money after selling the car.

My point exactly. I would say that 8-10 consumers get a loan for their car as I did. I plan on keeping the car for about another 1-2 years (50,000-60,000 miles max). So when I get ready to sale it I dont want have to put out more money to pay off my loan. Thats the name of the game for me. Buy a car sale after 2 yrs max and hopefully make a profit in comparison to what you owe. Use that money for the down payment of the next car.

I tell this to my dealer to and let him understand that if he want to see me again in a couple of years he needs to let me have some money in my pocket when I come back.

AKA EDP = extra dealer profit. Signal to walk away. I looked at one dealer with mark up and walked, then talked with 2 others that said they never mark up as in 3 or 4 years when you return to deal, they are going to have to admit they screwed you when you try to trade in. These 2 were po-dunk and didn't seem to have allocation (or so it seemed to me) so I ordered 50 miles from home based on a recommendation.

Dealers make a fair profit selling at Invoice...Selling at MSRP is pure gravy. "Market Adjustment" is the result of primarily three things;
#1 limited availabilty
#2 Greed
#3 Willingingness of far too many to pay it.

We've got a ton here in the bay area. Well, at least Frontier Ford, in San Jose. They have 20+ V6's: some as low as $16,900. I was going there every morning before work, looking at the different colors, seriously considering pulling the trigger. For anyone interested in a six, I'd start there.

The V6 has plenty of poop, but since I can get the GT at X-plan, I'm going to go that route.

Was looking around McCrackin Ford near Pittsburgh last weekend. There sat a shiny new black GT convertible. Market Adjustment of just under $9000!!!!

When the 2005 Mustang first came out last year, those losers sent letters out to all of the surrounding area Ford dealers offering to buy their Mustangs at sticker price. They could then take them back and rape potential buyers with their market adjusted prices since they would somewhat control the market. Fortunately, most dealers told them to take a hike.

I know where myself and many others will not be shopping when looking for a Ford product.

They are so greedy that the total price in the pix is not added correctly.
