looks like the wall was a standard block wall. you would think buil;ding code would require some further reinforcement of the walls of a parking structure.

 

No more parking near the outer walls for me...I'll stay in towards the center of the parking garage...I remember this happening to 4 elderly women in Virginia Beach about 5 years ago...they determined that the outer wall did not have the extra steel reinforcements in it which would have prevented such a tragedy...I would imagine the same happened in this particular incident.

That building is a disaster waiting to happen. Unreinforced block and apparently no parking stops. If anyone in L&I is paying attention they better be closing that structure until improvements are made.

 

It looks like the person had an automatic transmisson and had backed into their spot. They must have thought they had the car in drive and gunned it when they were actually in reverse. This has happened to people before but not when they were in a parking deck. I am sure glad that I have a manual tranmission. What a way to go!

The automatics won't start unless the gear is in P or N. That can't be it.

 

One of the reasons why i hate convertibles. Roll over the car and your pretty much dead.. But in this guys case he probably wouldent of made it either way.

What's wierd is in order to land like that he must have been going below 20 mph. Saw this on the news here in Houston yesterday. Very bizzare.

 

I don't think he meant anything about starting it in reverse, he was saying after he started the car he put it in reverse instead of drive.


But the video doesn't say anything about him "starting" the car, they said he was backing in to the parking space.

 

I wonder if they'd take $100 for the wheels?

 

going back to the building, don't they do inspection of the walls. Even if it's an old building, it should have to be updated
