So they say. With my luck, the undercover police officer would call for back up and have 15 marked cars on my rear in 30 seconds. I don't want to think about that one.

Both cars had no additional antennas and the lights in the grill are hidden behind it. Tint is legal on all windows in Fla.

Heh - I wasn't ragging on you (intentionally) - I thought it was part of the article you pasted saying they had a graphite mustang (that's why I said "that's what they're talking about.") No worries.

 

The law in FL is, if you get caught racing, they can take your ride.
Yeah, street racing is dangerous, but that would totally stink to loose your ride.

 

I have heard rumors that in So. Cal. they can take your car and junk it. No if ands or buts.... Can anyone confirm this.

Forfeiture Ordinance passes City Council Unanimously
San Diego became an even more difficult place to illegal street race last week with the passage of the toughest "Forfeiture Ordinance" in the United States. Illegal street racing offenders will now lose their car permanently as a result of being convicted a second time of VC 23109.

Illegal Street Racing Penalties:
Convicted first time offenders for illegal street racing will have their license suspended for six-months.
Cars cited for illegal street racing will experience an automatic 30 day impound costing approximately $850.00.
Offenders can be fined $1,000.00 and face the possibility of being imprisoned for up to 90 days.
If you are under 21, “0 tolerance� means that you cannot have any measurable amount of alcohol and/or drugs in your system and drive.
You can be fined for not buckling up while driving.

Spectator Ordinance:
Being caught knowingly participating as a spectator at an illegal street racing event is a misdemeanor crime.
Spectators at an illegal street race can be punished with up to six month of jail time or a fine which can be as high as $1,000.

My wife's sister works at the seminole county jail here in sanford so i asked her if she could find who is driving the stangs. I'd like to get some up close pics of them so I'll see what I can do once she finds anything out

 

I think Florida's laws are similar to most places. Tint on the windshield is allowed only along the top and front side windows cannot be tinted as much as back and rear windows.

Undercover....hmmmm. Sounds like an "entrapment" case to me. Which it would be if the 'undercover' car actually raced him rather than immediately pulling him over.

No not really . I've seen way to many accidents and deaths due to street racing. I just chose not to do it. I just think the track is a better environment. A few bucks to go down the 1/4 is fine with me opposed to taking the chance of injuring someone else and getting a ticket. Just my .02

I can't understand people saying he got what he deserved, and never street race. These few saying that can't possibly say they never raced someone. I probably would have done the same thing if I pulled up next to another mustang, and maybe the people saying the things mentioned above should not have a car capable of going as fast as a mustang.

 

I saw a fairfax county cop that had a camaro yesterday...

 

I think the guy got what he deserved. I lived in San Diego County until I moved up here 2 1/2 years ago and I remember that even then there were stringent laws about street racing. Now they've put even more teeth in them, and I couldn't agree more. I read about far too many deaths in San Diego due to street racing and they always saddened me. What a terrible waste of lives.

If you want to race, take it to the track. Besides being a sign of maturity, it's also an indicator of just plain common sense.

And please spare me the whining about being ticketed by an undercover cop. If you're racing, flagrantly speeding, or just about anything else illegal, Ypu're susceptible to being stopped and ticketed. Period.
