Lumbar Support System Question

Anyone know if the lumbar support, when fully inflated, presses well into you spine? I have a new 07 that seems to just have minimal support when fully inflated. My 92 stang fills in the small of my back considerably more the the 07 at max inflation pressure.

I am wondering whether the system is working correctly and that its just not as good as the 92? or if there is a problem that not enough air is being pumped in. I have checked and there are no leeks.

Mine works great! but depending how much meat is over the spine may have a effect on how functional the lumbar support is..

I think its fine, the older ones felt like a little bag in the seat. I just deflate it completely, sit normally, and just inflate it till it JUST pushes on my back. If you do too much you give up a lot of side grip.

My 05, when fully inflated, presses well into the spine and is uncomfortable. Sit in another Stang and compare them. Sounds to me like you might have defect in yours.

My 05 does inflate rather well. Try this as test. Deflate it all the way, sit in the seat and inflate it and see if it still seems "off".

When fully inflated it feels as if the seat back is perfectly straight and does not buldge into the lower back. I don't know if it should push further in or not. My previous 92 definately pushed further in towards your back. I do feel it, just not as I expected. Don't know if this is correct or not.

When fully inflated, my 07's lumbar support sticks into my hip bone rather than my lumbar. I think the seats were designed for short people or something because the lumbar is between your diaphragm and your pelvis. The lumbar bag juts into my upper pelvis rather than the actual lumbar region.

Regardless, I had grown up / gotten used to horrible horrible mediocre bench seats and other poorly designed car seats, so the Stang's sport bucket seats are a significant improvement.

My lumbar support works but compared to our 92 F150 and 99 Taurus, it is not as noticeable when driving. I'm thinking that the leather seats may be the reason as compared to cloth.

Metro, Auto manufactures design their interior egronomics for a person 5'8'' this is considered the average hight! So if your like myself 6'3'' or taller ergonomicly things are going to be less than perfect!

I am just a pip over 5'9", 180lbs(well, if I skip a couple days of eating..), so EVERYTHING ON EARTH IS DESIGNED TO FIT ME PERFECTLY! mwaahahaha.

So 5'8" is the 95% percentile? D'oh.

I'm 6'3" 154 lb and the GT is comfortable, but it could have been designed to allow easier ingress/egress. My knee hits the steering column if I try heel-toe downshifting and my knee hits the steering column trying to get out of the car.

My lumbar support is a joke. The biggest disappointment of the car for me. I'm 6'6", 275lbs and the lumbar bladder in my 03 Windstar inflates so much it can feel like a football on your lower back. The Mustang bladder at full inflation is barely noticeable. On long trips, I use a supplemental pillow.

Seems like my original suspicion is true in that the new system doesn't come close to those in the past.
