Wow, 17 and getting a GT?!? I am 20 and I still don't know for sure if I will be able to get an 04 GT, let alone an 05.

Anybody here get quotes from USAA? I haven't made the call yet...

When I buy my car in March I'll have my last ticket taken off by then. Progressive just quoted me $1200 a year with max coverage. I'm 26.
It would be $1750 with 1 ticket on my record. I currently pay $1500 a year with my Accord Coupe V6.

Whatever company your parents use will be the cheapest.
Whatever company your parents use will be the cheapest.
Either that, or you can shuffle the drivers sometimes (with certain companies) so that your mom or dad is insured as a primary driver on the mustang which will lower your rates.
As far as companies, like many here, I found State Farm to be the cheapest by far for young drivers. They are pretty good with home and other "toys" as well. If your family isn't with them, you may want to get a quote for EVERYTHING.
Definately check out State Farm IMO.
Also, DON'T get any tickets or say bye bye to Mr. Mustang.
But most of all, check out what it would cost you in insurance if you had a 2004 Mustang NOW and see if you can afford it.
When I was 18 I wanted to purchase a Mustang GT but I was quoted $6000-$7000 Canadian per year (partly because we already had two cars) but mostly because of my age #1 and also because of the car #2. Obvoiusly I couldn't afford that so I bought a used 1994 Ford Probe GT (good move looking back).
Anyways, hope that helps some.

I'm 23 (I'll be 24 when I get the Stang) and this will be my first new car and will likely have to last me well into my 30's (until I'm fully established in my career and have student loans paid off).
Right now with good student discount I'm looking at about $1200 for 6-months with full coverage on the V6. I'm hoping that drops below $1000 when my insurance renews w/o my wreck on my record. Then I get another discount at 25
But $1200 is about the same I would pay for any other car I want... So I thought I might as well get the Stang

I'm sure you're all super drivers and are lucky enough that nothing bad will ever accidentally happen to your Stangs, but it might still be worth looking at how satisfied current customers are with the claims process. After all, you might have the cheapest insurance in the world, but if the agents are absolute douchebags about the claims process and manage to screw you over in the event of an accident, what's the point?
For example, a friend of mine was using Progressive (cheapest quote in his circumstances) until he was in an accident and after 4 months of hassle, he finally ended up with a bunch of non-OEM replacement body parts and they wouldn't even cover a large portion of the damage because he couldn't conclusively prove the damage wasn't there prior to the accident. He's since switched companies.
I, for one, use Allstate because my parents used it the whole time I was growing up and were very happy with the couple of claims they had to file. It was probably an extra $50 or so every 6 months, but if anything ever does go wrong, I have a little more faith it will get resolved.

Also, find out if the company you're looking to switch too likes to "lowball" you for the first year or two only to raise rates in subsequent years. Insurance companies KNOW you shop them around, so some will try to lure you with low rates for the first year. Just be aware of that especially for smaller companies.

I've had Allstate and Progressive. Progressive has great rates for my motorcycle, and I have never had a claim with them.
Allstate had better rates for cars (because I was on my parent's policy), but their motorcycle rates were much worse. I was with Allstate and I had a claim on a motorcycle, they took care of me in a great way.
For younger drivers (I'm 27), you are going to get screwed on insurance rates. Shop around and find out who will screw you the least. Geico sounds good from what I've heard, but they don't offer insurance in my area.
To be honest, if you are worried about covering the insurance cost, don't get a Mustang. I was 17 once. I had a lot of tickets. Believe me.

I'm a 25-year-old married male, and my quote is something like $580 for every six months with a GT...I'm with American Express Insurance, which is offered through costco. I got insurance when I was 23 (and married), and shopped around A LOT for insurance when I got it...this was by far the best deal.

USAA gave me a quote of $865/6 months on an '05 GT. I am a 25 y.o. male, single with no tickets or accidents on my recent record that USAA looks at.

I am just wondering how a 17 y.o. can afford at GT much less the insurance, I had a '94 V6 when I was in college, I was 20, this was in 2000. So I had a 6 yr old Mustang V6 and my insurance with State Farm was $1200 every 6 months. I can't begin to imagine what a new GT would have cost me, easily $2000+/6 months.

You need to realize that most likely the 17 year old would not have his own policy and the car might not even be in his name. If the car is in his parents name and he is just listed as a person with a license in the household then the insurance would not be that bad.
