Yesterday Ford had their Innovation Drive at Irwindale Raceway. During the day I was fortunate to drive the three 2005 cars presented, Mustang, Freestyle and Five Hundred. Unfortunately the drive time in each car amounted to less than a lap of the oval and partial road course. The Mustang GT auto was very smooth with good acceleration, feel and brakes, although more body roll than I expected. The Five Hundred drove like a midsized Mercedes. And the Freestyle with its low ground clearance, handled well for a SUV.

The highlight was when my 10 year old son befriended a Ford marketeer and gave my son the keys to the Ford GT and let him push the starter button! Varoom! Prior to this no one was allowed to even sit in it!

Afterwards I ordered a Mustang GT 'vert. A great day.
