I know a ex-co worker who now works for a custom fabricating shop that is in bed with ford.He said that they are now modding a mustang with a independant rear axle and some body mods for a nov auto show. This is gonna be interesting.I may take a drive over there someday just to get a sneek peek.

I'm shocked that your mention of IRS on a mustang has not caused a flurry of posts to this thread. Wonder what this modded mustang will be called.

Boss?

Please God, let them release an IRS 'stang so the malcontents will quit stinking up the place! :P

It'd be nice. Given the track record of pre-release rumors, I'll reserve judgement

I have a feeling we won't get IRS until the next remake.

I have a sneaking suspicion Ford waited to see the reations to the car and once they saw how great it was doing, they decided to hold off on the IRS and use it later when press and demand is getting low to rebolster interest and sales (ala '00 IIRC).

If it isn't on the top-of-the-line GT500, it's not going to be on any other SE for a long while.

Glad to see that they're definitely putting an IRS in the new models. The live-axle on the Mustang doesn't allow it to compete with BMWs and the 350z.

Just kidding!

Seriously though, given the availability of the GTs, I'm not concerned if it this rumor is true, I'm concerned if I can even get one.

I wouldn't hold my breath. It will be several years until that sees our drivers.
