Life isn't allways fair! Saying good bye to my Mustang

Well, I don't know if this is the right place to say this, but I am another victim of our crappy economy. When I showed up to work today, about 38 of us got called into the meeting room and due to how slow things are in our workplace, they let us go.

Unfortunatley, my Mustang "the leisure car" is probably the first thing to go. I have only had this car since August of 2007 and have loved every second of driving it. I can't imagine having that empty spot in my garage but don't know what else I can do. This totally sucks! I have babied this thing since the day I got it and have only put 3200 miles on it. I planned on keeping it forever, but it seems like everyone in Michigan are loosing their jobs and finding a new job ASAP isn't gona be easy (especially as a dynamometer test technician) As much as I hate to do this, I am putting it up for sale and taking it to the dealer on Monday to see what they will give me (just in case I can't sell it) Man, this sucks!

All I ask from you guys (and girls) is a memorial burnout or donut in my honor or $23,000 to help me pay it off.

Sorry to hear all that bad news. Good luck with the sale or keeping it if possible.

You will come out fine, and will buy another Stang. They will be here forever. Best of luck to you.

Very sorry to see this happening but family is first and foremost! Like Steve "MustangGuy" said, Mustangs will be around forever and you can always buy another one when the time is right! Best of luck to you and yours during these hard times!

Sorry to hear that..... I got that same speech from my (former) store manager last Feb. Still have not found the job I want. Luckily, I had paid my Mustang off when I bought it, or probably be in the same boat as you in that respect. It is my "play" car, not a DD , and my husband is humoring me in letting me keep it.
eventually we will both find jobs, not saying it is not tough out there... I know it is, but I worked retail for over 27 years, and I think I am actually going to enjoy the holiday season for once!

Thanks everyone, I might possibly have a new job lined up. No guarantee, but I still have all my old Ford contract job connections. So I can probably go test Ford prototype engines again (What I did two years ago) Sorry, I wouldn't be able to give any details of the new 5.0 if I get the job, that whole confidentiality thing The only bad part is the 20-30% pay cut I'll be taking as a contract employee. This is where the loss of the Mustang comes in. Maybee things will work out in the end and I can buy a used 05-09 down the road or start saving for a 2014. Any way you slice it, this still totally sucks!

I feel for you. We just had to get rid of our 2005 "Eleanor".

Sorry to hear about the layoff. I know exactly where you are coming from. I was laid off at the end of July, found another job and worked there about a month......and then laid off AGAIN! That was twice in a 3 month period. Once was bad enough, but twice....sheesh! Luckily I found another job in another field of work (also taking a big pay cut, but the stability is worth it to me) and will start Dec 1st. My mustang is my DD and luckily I put enough down when I bought it that my payments aren't that much. Best of luck to you!

Sorry about the job. Cars are a nicety - so you take care of you and the family and another "play" car will come along.

Or - as you mentioned - save for the 50th anniv model in 2014!!!!

We're all feelin it, we know it's going to hit most of us. If/when it hits me, I'm just going to find something else, work my butt off and try to get back to an even higher level. I know it's easier saying it than doing it, but you gotta believe man. It'll come back better than ever.

Thanks for your support everyone! I think I might change my career or go into opening my own business. Maybe I'll move out of Michigan (since it sucks anyways, Hawaii maybe? LOL, I wish!) Not sure what I am gona do. But I am going to have to agree with the beast and make this a learning experience, work my butt off and get the heck out of the automotive field.

Dude, I feel badly for you, but don't dispair. I'm sure something will crop up for you and don't sell that car too soon. You may be able to save it. That dealer is going to steal it from you. Don't give them the satisfaction.

What is really bad are the auction prices the dealers are paying are really low. That brings the price way down on trade-ins and right now its about 50 cents on the dollar at the dealership in their favor.

I'm praying for all Stangers in this economy.
