For me, personally, I would consider holding off on my '05 order for an '06 if they offered the car in True Blue! If they get a flood of requests, they just might condsider it. How difficult would it be, really, to offer certain colors?

It's probably too late for the '06 MY since they plan that stuff well in advance, there is a new color blue that is replacing Sonic next year.

I'd like to see them offer a color that looks just like Calypso Corral from the 1970 Boss or Dark Shadow Grey.

As I said in one of the other threads regarding this - supposedly they can do special fleet orders of the available vehicle colors, but you have to order 5.

Anyone want to go in on 5 dark green GTs?

I am not personally a fan, but what happened to the deep green, tan interior kick? I seem to remember it was massively popular in the early to mid 90's.

I like to see a Red Red like the 65, I'd also like to see brown with slight gold flake like a 72 LTD (what ever happen to paint that had some depth). It would be nice to have Copper like the 67 Mustang and Turquoise with Turquoise interior like the 66 Mustang. I’ve got it give up the “My Color†for the exterior paint, just dial up your choice:-)

I've asked before and I'll ask again - can someone in the business please explain this in terms a layman can understand? Is it marketing? Technical? What?

With all the technology, and how the paint nozzles can apparently be cleaned in a minute between color changes, why is the palette of available colors not huge?

For dealer ordered vehicles that are going to sit on the lot I can see keeping selection to a small set of colors, so customers have to buy one of them and some funky color doesn't sit there unsold.

But for special orders, even on a per unit basis, why not charge a premium for a custom color and let the customers at it?

I'm serious in my intent, but I'm not a dealer. I said "supposedly" they'll do that, and the green is the color they use on one of their trucks. I'll try to verify if it is possible. If one of the dealers on here can comment (or if someone knows a dealer, etc.) that could help as well.

I have no first hand knowledge in this realm, I'm just going by what I've been told. I have not seriously approach a dealer with this proposal. Yet.

(Edit: Updated avatar to something more appropriate to this thread... )

I saw a television program on the automaker's decision process that is involved in selecting exterior colors for their different models. Exterior colors are selected over three years before the actual model year. So '06 colors were probably decided on in '03.
