With a few tweaks it would look cool as heck! I really love that glass roof.

I like it alot. The tail lights and rear end need a little work but it's definetly a mustang. It seems the negative nancys always post first. To be honest, I would want to ask those who don't currently own mustangs. I still remember when the S197 concept came out how alot of the SN95 owners hated on it. It seems to me that everyone wants to feel the own the best looking version of the car.

the key is to keep buying mustangs then you will always have the best no matter what, I am definately buying the next one to add to the stable

I guess I'm TOTALLY not seeing it.

To me... you could remove the running horse logo in the front and back and I TRULY beleive no one here would have recognized this as a Mustang.

I would suspect most people would have thought, "Hmm interesting... wonder what kind of car that is..."

As far as wanting to "ask those who don't currently own Mustangs," well for me that statement really sums it up.

If Ford puts this thing (and I'm purposely calling it a thing) into production, I feel that's exactly what they will be doing. Ignoring their customer base that truly loves the Mustang and everything it stands for and trying to capture a customer base that has no friggin clue about the Mustang or what it stands for.

The problem is, that customer base is made up of people who like BMWs, and other Euro cars, or Camaros or whatever you'd like to apply to this conglomeration of a model, and those people will buy BMWs and other Euro cars that they ALREADY buy.

As for "everyone wants to feel they own the best looking version of the car"

Umm I have a '91 Mustang GT and a 2006 Mustang GT... I could care less what someone else thinks about my car. I bought the new Mustang because quite frankly it LOOKS like a Mustang. And I liked that look. I never bought an SN95 style Mustang because I never really liked the look. Had nothing to do with me wanting to have the best looking version in someone elses eyes.

I STILL have the '91 and I STILL love that car. I think it looks great right alongside my new car.

As for this new... car (notice I'm not calling it a Mustang) You couldn't GIVE me the car.

If other people like it great. It will be a sad day for the Mustang but I waited for ten years the last time... I suppose I can do it again. Or if my current stable of Mustang's go the way of the dodo and they're still making this one I'll move on I suppose... like many others I suppose.

I think it's stunning. I agree that the official photos don't do it justice, its one of those cars that I'm sure will look sooooooo much better up close and personal.

Paint it black, stick on some Shelby Razor 20" rims and it'd be a complete knock out!

I love the look of the current car (well once it's lowered and got some decent wheels on it) and I think this moves the game on several years.

Perhaps this is too bigger jump from the current car to what the '10 restyle may look like, especially for those that like the current car for it's retro looks. My guess is we'll see a lot of the styling elements watered down a little before anything hits production.

Thrust has already improved it's rear end (trimmed the lights) and given it a metal roof.

Oh, and Lambo doors shouuld only be seen on Lambos!

I gotta disagree with you on this one. There are so many Mustang styling elements on this car. They've been highly stylized with a Euro flair but there's no mistaking that they're Mustang.

Lets hope this idea withers on the vine! The only attractive thing about this abomination is the Mustang emblem! Check out those taillights.

Some people are just hell bent on destroying our American classic.

Other than the side hips, which I think could or could not be a mustang, where are these styling elements?

The headlights look like they're straight from a BMW. The taillights... there are three of them... other than that the shape and look are nothing like a Mustang that I've ever seen. The car does have a fastback but so do many cars.

The rearend.. the frontend... I just don't see it. I would say that at the most, the frontend does slightly resemble the old SN95 but do we really want to go backward??

Please help me see the light

I like it too, and the more I see it the more I like. How could you mistake the rear quarter windows (vents) as anything but a Mustang? Ant the overall dimensions are quite Mustang-like also, long hood, fastback, and short tail.

The way they painted the vents has given me an idea for the SHR louver window replacements, too. I'm thinking of (maybe just in PS or something) seeing how they would look with the frame matching the body, but the vents themselves either left unpainted or painted black.

Think I'll mention that in the other thread.

Richard (rrobello) and I took a ton of pics at the show yesterday. TMS will have the highlights up soon.

Here's the introduction video that I took.

And, here's a few pics that you haven't seen before.

Good work TacoBill! I love the way you were trying to film Fabrizio talking, but you kept being drawn back to the car

Thank-You Taco-Bill & rrobello, that was awsome some sour skepticals in there but I still like it and that it sounds FORDALISHIOUS.
Any talk at all about possible production numbers ? or like only one of a kind ?

For some reason this reminds me of how Ford created the 05 concept after the S197 was already designed. It was a way to give a subtle preview of what was to come without revealing the new car too early. Hmmmm.......

Obvious... right...

What was the undedited version?

Whatever.... to each his own. I for one hope this thing never sees the light of day production-wise. But if it does it certainly won't affect me. At least not in a negative way.

I'm sure the value of my '06 will skyrocket when they stop making the current style and move on to that... thing.

But I'm pretty sure Ford will take a hit... time will tell.

Yes i have to agree with you, that our 05's - 07's will skyrocket once production has ceased and the become more scarce, just as the 60s muscle car.

For the old folk i have only one thing to say... Welcome to a new era. Things will never be the same as they once were back when you were growing up and bought those 60s and even thos who bought the 90s model stang.
What would be the purpose to keep an identical model but just changing the engine... personally i would lose interest... don't get me wrong i love mustangs.. old muslce cars till the 80's and then i hated it till the 05's. Yea i'm 18 years old but i was raised up around cars, Ford, Chevy, Lincoln, and Even Toyota. so your repsonse will probably be your young, you don't knw what you are talking about. but that is ok you are free to have an opinion.
What made our 05model stangs so dang on popular? Retro Style 60 looking mustang. And of course the most powerful mustang ever made.
As bad as i hate to admit it, during the last muscle car war ford was always having trouble keeping in the game... always a step behind. They produced some beauitful rides but not to where they needed to be. Ford can't do that this time... not with the market focusing on Young Adults wanting Speed & A sweet retro ride with some nice little goodies. With all the news going around ford is already having trouble and making cutbacks on the unneccessary.
& what really declares a mustang? the old box looking stangs? how did that resemble a stang? personally i hated it. 1995 remind me of a escort or tarsus. I thought the idea of the mustang was pride and the ability to run. Full of Power & Loads of fun.

defintion of a muscle car:
Main Entry: muscle car
Pronunciation: -"kär
Function: noun
: any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving
- m-w.com

Although the designer may be itaitan, the atricle did say he designed a vette... but vettes are really nice muscle cars... someone hit me, i'm not getting how people are saying it isn't a stang...
is it a replica of the previous ... no but wouldn't that be pointless?

oh well

The unedited version contained a grammatical error. Thanks for assuming I posted something nasty then rescinded it!

At any rate, you guys need to realize this is only a styling exercise. It doesn't mean the '10 redesign (or whenever it happens) will look exactly like this car.

Funny...

I remember hearing the exact same thing about the 05s when they came out, only it was the 99-04s skyrocketing.

A lot of people fall into the 'I don't like it, so it's going to SUCK' category.

Everyone has an opinion and its not wrong, you may not like it...
... but those are just an opinion.

And people said the exact same thing about the 05 Concept.
There were just as many people that hated it, as liked it.
And the other way around when the 05 production was shown... "Why did they CHANGE it!!"

Everyone forms an opinion on a styling exercise or concept, but it's JUST on THAT car...

Rather than quoting MORE than one person... from multiple sources who have seen it:
"If you like the 05..you'll love the 010..."
Then again...some will.... some won't
