Good advice I got along the way: You buy the car. You drive the car. A few years down the line, you mod the car and make it new to you all over again. I'm in that process, and said the same things to myself you're saying.
Lots of go-fast options available. Tuning, Caming, Forced induction. You could also look at getting a 5.0 crate engine down the line and have the best of both worlds ( I wish my budget would allow for that, but I like my daughter, so I guess I won't sell her into slavery...).
Good luck! And know you aren't alone on this subject!
And as for the looks...i prefer the new look over the last one...better curves like a super model!
Nothing to feel bad about, love your car
I never had that feeling of being "less" than any other car, maybe it's just me but I love my car and don't care who passes it lol
I just don't have the need in me to be faster than anyone, though I am putting a procharger on for my own personal speed needs.

Actually the stereotype is more than likely true. I'm sorry, but there are teenagers out there that don't have the work ethic to have enough money saved to go and purchase a brand new car off the lot like the current list of muscle cars.
Then again, I don't see how a teenager who just got there license even has the ability to work enough to make the money to buy it outright let alone work enough hours a week with school to afford payments. And let us not forget lack of credit for payments.
And if they come from a family with money and they buy the car out of their trust fund, again, not earned cash.
That is not to say there aren't many teenagers out there that do have a work ethic and perhaps have worked out some sort of deal with their parents that with money saved and money soon to be earned they will pay it to their parents who have purchased the car for them.
However that is a digression from the original topic. Never sweat trying to keep up with the Jones. As so many said.. it is your's, love it and enjoy it.

If you're handy put a GT500 supercharger on your 4.6.
Here's how...

I've seen 100 HP/L at the crank builds - on the ragged edge, sure, but 500HP is a short runner intake, big cams, ported heads, high compression, a stroker kit, tune and full exhaust away.
