KBB Value of S197

How do they determine the KBB values? They are now up 1K from last month for my 08 GT. 26,700 for private party and 24,200 for trade in. The most i have been offered in a trade in is 20K.
These values seem unreal.

Values are, indeed, creeping back up for our 05-09 GT's. I work at a large volume Ford dealer in the NW, and I've seen them selling for what I thought were crazy high prices. 06-07 GT's with 30K miles going easily for $22K-$24K. Now that 2010 GT Premiums are selling for $30K to $34K after rebate and the new 2009 GT's are pretty much all sold out now, the used 05-09's are moving up in price to fill the gap.

I checked the KBB trade-in for my '07 GT, and it's around $22K. But, I won't sell it or trade it as I have too much money invested in mods to wanna part with it.

What do you feel will happen when the '11's come out with the new drive trains? Will the value of the 05-09's drop? The thing is if you use the dealers Black Book the trade in prices are 3200K in difference as KBB says 24,200 and BB says 20,800.

I got $18,500 for mine, and there were some cosmetic/paint issues. Original value was $20,000.

KBB and Edmunds are not realistic. Look at 4sale prices of *sold* vehicles to get a real indication.

Are you serious?!?!? When I bought last June everything was around $20g for an 06GT with ~10,000 miles. I know this year the economy whacked the values, but i wasn't expecting it to over swing. Guess our car appreciated in value.

Edit: Btw KBB is always high, great for ppl selling. Buyers should be looking at Edmunds & NADA, plus getting a true market view by shopping around.

They say dealers use the Black Book for trade in values. You can find them on most dealer webpages.

Black book online values my 2008GT that only has 5,100 miles on it at $16,435.00-$20,500.00.

We use neither where I work. We use a program called V-Auto which looks at real sales data from around the country.

I was reasonably happy to see that the value went up again. I made a composite of KBB and the NDA and I owe 4grand less that what it is worth including what I put into it. I'm happy.

I'm serious. I've been watching the value of my own 2007 GT for awhile and the price has really climbed recently. I don't know why, but it is what it is. Perhaps people don't like the 2010 so much, and they're clamoring to get a proven, and well-liked body style (05-09) while they're still fairly new.

On a side note, I'm seeing late-model F-series pickups selling for near-new prices, as well, around here. It's crazy, but good to see solid resale value.

I picked up my 07 GT in early January for $18,000 with only 12,000 miles. It was listed for $20,000. This news is very promising when I want to sell it for a 2011

Ultimately, a car is only worth what the dealer thinks they can get for it...either from putting it on their lot, from buyers, or by sending it to auction. They look at BBCI, check results from large auctions such as Manheim, or the industry (not consumer) guidebook of their choosing.

Psychology at work. During economic hard times people cannot afford to buy new cars so they look at used cars instead. Dealers know this and creep the prices of used cars up to make up for losses in new car sales. Last year I was looking at 2005 and 2006 4x4 Suburbans and the prices now are about 4K more than last year for the same year models.

let us not forget that the value of the dollar has dropped more than 30% in the last year and it does take more cash to equal value. I have no idea if this is retroactive on the previous value of vehicles but it seems logical.

Couple that with natural inflation and we're really spending some bucks.

Don't expect to get anything near KBB at a trade in. KBB does not sell Cars.
Most dealers use GALVES, even then if your trading in a vehicle and the Mfr of that vehicle is running a 0% finance special, you'll get even less than Galves.

I got $2k over KBB on my 2005 Nissan Frontier V6 SE Crew Cab back in June. I was shocked.....but didn't show it. The truck sat on their lot for months after I handed it over to them.
