I have a spectre. I picked it up cheap used and put a K&N filter on it because the filter it came with was a little torn up. As far as quality goes the install was easy and everything fit the way it should. Some people bash spectre as the 'cheap' brand or the 'autozone' brand or whatever but I like mine. I personally like the look of the polished intake pipe, and you can debate all day long the differences in heat soak and what not between metal intake pipe and plastic but I personally don't think it makes much of a difference on a daily driven car.

Here's the kicker though, with the spectre, even with the optional insert at the MAF housing installed I got a check engine light for a lean condition. After I got a tuner I never had a problem.

So in that respect I guess you get what you pay for in terms of compatibility with the stock programming of the car. I'm sure the K&N intake has had many more dollars and many more hours of research put into it to insure that it works with the stock programming of the car perfectly...

Ok man cool thanks for the advice, that's why I was kind of leaning towards a spectre cause it looks a lot better. What kind of tuner would you recommend?

I personally have the air raid race intake combined with the SCT tuner and I would buy it over and over again. It's been that awesome. For what it's worth, I've heard nothing but great things about the JLT mentioned above as well

I have a spectre and a sct tuner on mine and its amazing, night and day difference in the car after I put it on and tuned it, its considerably cheaper but I'd say its good quality for the price

Hi,
Kevin509 I can see on the picture that you have a spectre CAI and using bama tuner. Do you have any issue ?
I have the same config on my gt 06 and just received the bama tuner with custom tunes. Unfortunately it's not working (can't go over 2500rpm and electronic throttle light on ) . The bama support told me to disconnect the probe on the cai but it doesn't look like you did any thing like that, can you confirm ?

I've had the spectre on my 06 GT For 2 years with no issues. With and without bamas tunes. Before I got the tuner I had to call spectre to send me an updated MAF insert cause I kept getting a lean code. When I got bamas tunes i never had a problem at all. I took out the maf insert, put it back together and was done. I did have to tell them it measured 110mm's because it wasn't an option on the drop down list. Sounds to me like a tune problem. If you got the tunes for life program just have them make a new set of tunes for it and see if that helps.
