So I haven't heard anything from him in a while and took it to maybe be a bad sign. I finally decided today that I'd just go in there and ask about the status of the car. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about so I took his good news seriously. He said that the car had been built and it was even listed as being "released from factory" and that they expected it as soon as October 11th! I don't think that was a solid date, just a good estimate, but i'm darn excited.

Unfortunately I went to pick up my Dad's car with him at another dealership where the dealer had a nice 2001 Porsche Carrera (Silver with Black interior) in his garage, and it's in my price range, what to do what to do...

When did you order and when was the car built?
Congrats on getting some good news finally!

Do you really have to ask this question?
Be a true stanger man. Do the right thing, I beg you.

A Carrera?! In your price range? May I ask how much he asked for it?

In that case take the Porsche!

Oh and by the way, if you decide to go Porsche', start a slush fund for repairs. Trips to Porsche' repair facilities and dealers are $500 minimum a shot.

Wait til you start repairing the Porsche. That new Mustang is gonna look real good to you then. Not to mention the new car smell you will be missing out on.

I didn't say they were in the same price range, just that both were in my price range right now. I'm really torn, but one of the main cons of the Carrera is the cost of maintenance I'm really leaning more towards the Mustang right now, but that Porsche handling... I have a little while to decide.

No news on when exactly the stang was built, but I'm darn excited!

Just back from the local dealer here. Got the brochure, which is cool, better than most I've seen from Ford in recent years. They printed me 2 window stickers of cars coming in VERY soon. One is a redfire that is scheduled for delivery on Tuesday the 10th. I'm told he will be calling me as it comes off the truck.
I might consider this redfire, but it has the wrong wheels. It has the 17" optional machined wheels and I'm looking for bullits. I'm going to go see the car, but doubt I'll take it. MSRP is $27, 650. I can scan and post the printouts if people are interested.

The second one is a metallic silver. It also has the machined 17" rims and since that's not one of my first choices, I'll be passing on that one.

Off topic, a girl walked in while I was sitting in there deciding. She bought a Toyota Solara 5 weeks ago ($28,000) and hates it. Wants to trade it in. Not a good move, just never heard of a situation like that.

Get the Carrera checked out by a PPI. If they sign off on it, buy it. I love the Stang but would drop mine in an instant for the Porsche. If you want a great site to research the car and get advice, go to rennlist.com. They are to Porsches what this site is to Mustangs. Good luck wither way you go.

I suspect you were very tempted, I know I would be. It would be so cool to be able to take delivery so soon. Is it the color you want, just not the wheels ?

About the girl and the Solara .. what a bummer (she could lose some serious $), what kind of car was she going to trade it for ? (don't let her grab that Mustang from ya) lol

Well, redfire while it looks awesome isn't my first choice. I've got my heart set on black with the red leather interior upgrade. Bullits a must. Shaker 500 or 1000. 5 speed.

Solara chick was looking at a used Eclipse they had on the lot. Ironically, it was also the redfire color. She's going to take a severe spanking. I did advise her to deal with the car a couple years, but doesn't look like she'll wait.
