In all seriousness, if this is totaled by the insurance and they won't give me any good value, I'll be taking the aftermarket parts off and selling them most likely. I have Louvers, JLT intake, Shaker Scoop, Wheels/tires, exhaust tips, pedal covers, hurst billet shifter...

We'll see.

05YellowGT, that is great you were able to get yours back. I still think mine might have too much damage to the frame. I am anxiously awaiting the insurance adjustors call. If for anything just to get a final/offical answer of totaled or not.

Glad you're okay man, with a hit and spin like that, it really is a testimate as to how these cars stand up when you need them most. Sorry about the ride, it sure does look like the front clip is trash. Once the 'ol frame straightener comes into play, they usually total them. The '05s now are only worth about 15-17k so I'd guess you won't be getting it back. The car did look awesome though. Have fun chosing your next move. If it were me, I'd be waiting for the '11 for the engine. I'm not as keen on the looks of the '10-'11 but it is a better built car with more features and in '11 a superior engine.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Glad you're ok. Your car was one of my favorites on this site. Find a bullitt. You'll love it even more.

A bullitt did briefly pass through my mind. I don't think I have really seen on around the Pittsburgh area, if so maybe just once. I would not mind checking one out some more.

glad the damage was just metal, but sure hate to see such a great car smacked up...I dunno, but IMO I think that car may not be totalled...guessin the kmember is why the wheel is stuffed, and the damage to the upper fenderwell/frame may not be that bad...core support/cooling 'stuff', rack and pinion maybe, ECM maybe, sheetmetal/paint...long as the drivetrain aint busted(dont look like it shoved the motor over) maybe...hopefully anyway- that is a nice looking car. anyway, hope they make it as right as they can with you somehow...

Man, a couple people recently have given me a little hope. Here is a picture of under the hood. Well, the best shot I could get since the hood would not open. But the JLT and shaker scoop look to be in the same location and undamaged. Of course the antifreeze bottle is "slightly" moved.

I can't wait to hear from the insurance guy.

If my car were damaged that badly, I think i'd hope for it to be totaled out. With that much damage, i'd be afraid even if it were fixed it just wouldn't drive the same again.

Any ideas for what you'd be interested in if it ended up being totaled out?

You have great taste. That car looked killer.

As stated above if my car took a hit like that, I wouldn't want it to be repaired either. I've just heard too many stories about cars that couldn't be aligned and body piece fitment was off from that kind of stuff to really want my car to have that.

Whatever you do though, stay in a Mustang!

I wish my girlfriend was as understanding as your wife. I want a Cobra...

LOL, I do keep thinking of Pet Cemetary. If I bury the car it will come back to me. It just might be a little different.

As far as a successor, as can be seen, I kind of modeled mine after the '69 Mach 1. So I am considering that or a 2007-09 GT500.

Sorry about your crash man that really really sucks

But on the bright side if you DO get a GT500 I don't think you will be the slightest bit disappointed in it

I don't think I would abandon hope. It looks like it might be fixable, and a good shop using OEM parts would be able to do it right.

Glad you are ok.

Its reassuring to see cars like yours, not that I'm happy to see what happened, involved in an accident and the driver walks away. Just like that 2010 the three teens were joyriding in and all were out of seat belts and all walked away. Again, sorry to see this happen to your ride.

Thanks, and I agree. I am simply amazed at the results of injuries. It was a 50 mph road, and the other guy running a red light, I can only imagine how fast he was going. Even with the other car... It was a 2007 Colbalt and I think they were out of the car before I was. I had to wait for my car to stop spinning in circles before I got out.

As far as being salvagable, good news is a collision shop nearby that specializes in Mustangs and also builds race cars is interested to changing the front clip out. Both them and the insurance guy (who also likes mustangs) feels sad to see this one go and want to get it back on the road.

The insurance guy gave it a high value based on the condition and miles (even gave it a "retail-excellent" rating). I won't say the value, but other threads discussing the value of the 2005 being good are right. At least if the car is in good shape.

I posted a thread on the WTB category looking for a front clip. If anyone has an extra one just sitting around, let me know.

I look forward to getting this back on the road.
