I have a similar but slightly different quandry...I have a 65 Fastback that I am thinking of selling and in turn buying a 2005 GT Premium (on X-plan as I have a friend that works for Ford). Problem is the wife (and 1.5 kids). Worst part is, we have the cash to buy the car. I only was looking to sell the 65 to recoup some money and to convince her that we can swing it...With a son going on 3 and a second baby due at the end of Feb, she wants to quit working and says that the timing and "our current situation" is bad to spend this much money. BUT I WANT THE CAR, AND WE CAN AFFORD THE CAR. And it's more practical than the 65. Anyone have any advice? I guess all the responses will be to keep the 65 Fastback, buy the 05 GT, and trade in my wife... :bang:

Whatever you do, KEEP the Porsche !

One toy would be enough for me, I would buy a very practical second car as a daily driver.

If that Porsche runs as well as it looks, it would be criminal to sell.

It does and I've modified my stable in order to keep it around. It's mostly staying because my wife won't let me sell it... it was our wedding car. Anyway, I inked a tentative deal tonight on the black 05 GT using my Jeep as a trade in as well as $4K cash that a friend has offered me for my 89 LX. The GT will become my grocery getter and the Porsche can stay in it's reserved spot in the garage. Life is good! If I get the 5.0L sold this weekend, I'll be picking the 05 up on Monday. Man, I won't be able to sleep!

Don't buy an 05 unless you r gonna redo the rear end and tranny, and fix all the other issues with it. keep the Jeep for the winter if u get alot of snow otherwise sell em and get the stang and fix it

I know you're kidding, but the term "Cheaper To Keep Her" is more than just a few token words. It was an impulse thing when I paid Cash for my GT.....and I'm glad I did (3 weeks later).

Get the '05 gt. Keep the 911. Sell whatever else you must to make it work.

Do not! and I repeat, DO NOT go near this idea. You will regret it. IMO

Firstly, no snow here... ever. Well, maybe we get a flurry once a year but it only lasts a couple of hours. I think the 'Stang can handle it. Secondly, if any issues crop up with the '05, the dealership can deal with it. That's what the warranty is for. B)
