IUP without My Color Display?
#1
After weeks and weeks of seaching for a dealer who would honor the X plan on a GT, I finally located one 80 miles from my home who had several GT's in stock. I saw exactly what I wanted on Ford Vehicles .com and even viewed the sticker over the internet. I arranged to purchase the car and picked it up last night. The salesman went over a few things about the car and I was on my way , a very happy camper. When I got home I decided to figure out the My Color display. Well, even though the sticker specifically stated " Interior Upgrade Package " at a price of $450.00 there is no MCD . All of the other components of the package are there including the 6 gauge insturment cluster , aluminum dash trim , shifter **** , door scuffs , everything except the controls for the display. This car was just built in Feb. and delivered to the dealer a couple of days ago. Has anyone had this experience also ? Is this how Ford is getting around the lawsuit or is my dealer trying to pull a fast one by adding the components. Seems like an awful lot of trouble to change out the gauge cluster and add everything else. The dealership will be my first phone call this morning , I guarantee you that !!

That's the first I've ever heard of that. I didn't think it was physically possible (unless disabling through the computer) to have the IUP without MYColor. I would guess there is a glitch with it and the service department will be able to take care of it for you. Good luck.

Hopefully one call to your dealer will straighten this out for you!

That is weird.. because "the parts man" (KC) was able to add MY Color to his stang that came completely without IUP by simply adding the cluster and the buttons. Theres a thread (sticky) regarding his installation in the Interior section of the forums if you want to check it out.

Amazing that this happened. Wonder if speed of production has had a negative effect on quality. My wife's new V6 was missing some screws holding the trim at the rear of the trunk. Hopefully only the buttons are missing. Please keep us posted.

With all of today's computerized, robotic assembly devices used throughout the process - including quality checks - how exactly is it that these automobiles can still suffer from "built on Friday" problems? UAW "It's Friday, let's knock off early" rule?
How does something like that get out of the factory? Obviously, there's no simple quality check inspection after the vehicles are built...which is something the import manufacturers insist upon.
God, we're growing fat and lazy in North America.
