Hey All,
After reading a few IUP posts yesterday, I called my dealership and asked for a firm response as to what in the world is going on with the IUP. My answer was as follows:
The machine (Supplier) that stamps out the dash plate has broken. It will not be repaired until late November. My car (ordered 09/25) would be built in Mid-December, if the machine is repaired on schedule. If I dropped the option, it would be built right away.
I can't even decide what's truth or fiction anymore.

This subject has been beaten to a bloody pulp....but I'll put my 2 cents in. As a contract machine shop (Not Automotive) I believe the answer is the one most often given for the delay. Ramp up in order volume. Once a supplier is given a schedule it can be very difficult to speed that schedule up because they may be at capacity in time and machines capable to produce parts. Companies are reluctant to start up another supplier on specialized parts unless there are reasons of quality, performance etc. I can understand your frustration....but the're going to produce this option. In one way, this is a "Good" problem to have for Ford.Just not so good for we buyers.
