Summarized from a trustworthy source:

Ford is running into a shortage of some of the components because their forecasted order rate was not as high as actual (almost 80% of Mustang orders have the IUP). The U.S. may restrict this on V6 models, Canada will not. To help in the short term, the U.S. and Canada are creating another version of the IUP that will help support customers' wants of these interior upgrades.

If the culprit is MyColor, then maybe what they will offer is an IUP "lite" with everything except the MyColor option.

That wouldn't be such a big loss IMO.

"new" IUP lol. I can see it now. Fresh coat of paint on the dash and some christmas lights in the instrument cluster, for that faux paus MyColor look...

Hey Brad, does this have anything to do with the "quality" hold. My car was built a long time ago but the dealer said that all of his allotment were in the hold. Just curious as to if this hold is one and the same or the quality hold is something else?

If I had to loose either all the alum. trim or MYCOLOR I would sooner loose MYCOLOR. Of course the package should be half the price now.

How the heck could they make such an error on forecast?! Some team on FMC did not do their job, apparently.

All I know is that this mess better be cleaned up in a month when I place my order.

I'm pretty sure a quality hold and a material hold are two different things.

The U.S. may restrict this on V6 models
The US already did restrict it.

They didn't restrict it, they stopped it completely.

It could be a variety of things,

-underestimated demand
-production issues with suppliers
-quality issues with suppliers.

Just curious as to what the "IUP lite" won't have in it

All they can really do is have focus groups and look at the numbers of IUPs ordered on 2003 and 2004 Mustangs. Ford anticipated that 50% of 2005 Mustangs would be ordered with IUP (order guide), and like the source said, it's closer to 80%.

One thing I learned in Economics was that when supply is low and demand is high, price is high. I wonder if we'll see an increase in price of the IUP.

I wouldn't doubt that they didn't think it would be this popular (last one wasn't) but last one wasn't this COOL!

Which runs them into a jam.

Hey Brad, so is this confirmed that the current and future orders of the GT will not be effected by the IUP hold at all.
Sorry for asking this over and over, seems kinda strange that Ford would just stop the package for V6 and not increase the price to cut down the demand.
I guess Ford is taking the best bang for the buck line way to seriously. People who really want the IUP will probably pay close to 800$ for it IMO. I know i would.
