Issues/Concerns?
Ok I have had my 05 since October, and there are a few things I have noticed that I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed.
1. There is a popping noise from the front when I turn the wheel either way while I am at rest or just started moving.
2. When the defroster is on, there is a clicking sound heard from the outside of the car every so often. Is this normal?
3. Has anyone had any problems with the windows on cold days? One day, the windows were frosted, and they didn't come down.
4. I got window tint put on the car, and I have a slight vertical scratch/line along the front part of the drivers window, this wasn't there when I got the tint put on. Should I get this checked by the dealer or retinted by the tinter?
5. CD SKIPPING...any fix for this?
Can anyone shed some light on any of these issues/concerns? 2200 miles so far.

1- dealer said I was crazy(I have it too)
2-has not been defrosting cold here yet
3-same
4-no tint
5-got it, it especially hates Elton John
I was told the pop has to be repeatable to be diagnosed. I tried with everything I had to make it do it, of course since it was in for service it didn't.

I'm occasionally just the passenger but here's what I know
1- Haven't heard it
2- Haven't heard it either.
3- Search under frozen window . This has been discussed before.
4- No Tint
5- Search under skipping CD . Also previously discusssed. Our fix is to replace the head unit with aftermarket equipment.
Many items have been previously discussed, just use the search feature.

I knew someone would say this.....
Thanks for the input so far.
1.
2. It's normal
3. Yes -no ill effects afterwards
4. That rubber gasket can get deformed if you let it. Before fixing the tint, roll the window down to straighten out that flap. You may have to let the window stay up for a while til the rubber gets back into shape -or be papared to guide it w/ your finger each time
5. Check for scratches, wipe w/ alcohol, try compression...

With the popping sound when you turn the wheel, you may want to check your lugs and make sure they are nice and tight. It did that on me yesterday and I had just removed the wheels to paint the calipers. Same thing happened on my Grand Prix whenever took off and put on wheels.
1. the problem may be a problem with the struts and not have anything to do with the steering. I know there have been issues with the struts mount bushings or the spring seats.... I believe there is even a service bulletin about them.
4. you might have had a piece of dirt/sand or some other kind of debris stuck in the weather stripping or something when going up and down. I'd roll that back and look at it when the windows down to see if there's anything evident. I hate to say it, but you might have to retint the window just to see if that problem is still there.... which is oging to ruin the new tint too. you might not be able to see or feel whatever it is that's scratching it. I don't think the glass rests on anything while it's in the door, so I wouldn't suspect it's anything inside the door.

#1 Yes mine is doing it as well!!! Mine is most evident after it has been driven a bit..stopped and then restarted and then turn the wheels..I had mine in for a oil change and the service tech heard it as well...I told him I'd bring it back when I had more time..I'll be taking it back in next week..Let be know if you get yours resolved sooner..so I can tell my guy's what to look for!!!

Issue# 1 My 07 T-Bird does this ocasionally, but it's got 112 thousand miles on it too. I think it's a Control arm bushing on my T-Bird.
Issue# 2 The clicking sound you hear is the Compressor for the Air Conditioner. It is engaged when the Defroster is turned on. You will also hear it with the AC on. It's Normal. It's just the Clutches cycling.
Issue# 3 I don't know about this window Icing Issue. We don't get Ice much here in Florida, but I really don't see how these windows could be much different than any other cars with Ice On Them. I know the Auto Drop might be affected but it shouldn't keep the windows from closing properly. There are Tons of Cars out there now with this auto drop feature. I don't see it being an issue, just something we're not used to.
Issue # 4 is something to do with the Window Regulator, Several People who have had their windows tinted have complained about this, and Ford has a fix, and they pay to re tint that window too.
Issue# 5 has been talked about endlessly! Take it to Ford and they will remove and repair or replace your Shaker Head Unit under waranty.
All: Thanks for the input and remarks on your experiences.
TampaBear67: Thank you so much for the info on the window tint, since you Floridians are used to window tinting. I'll have them check out the window regulator, and hopefully they will be able to fix the shaker CD skipping too.
clintoris: Do you know if there is a bulletin number on this issue?

Ok I am going into the dealer tomorrow to have these issues dealt with. Can anyone provide any references or TSB's for me?

According to April, the CD skipping problem has been resolved with revision "B" of the radio. The earlier cars were built with revision "A". To my knowledge, there is no TSB on this issue yet but the dealer is able to purchase the new radio.
I also have the popping noise. From what I've read on the forums, it may have something to do with the upper strut bearings but I took it to the dealer and the service manager seems to think it may be something else. I decided to wait until a TSB is released on the issue rather than having them poking around with my car and keeping it for a week or so while they reasearch the problem. I mean, enough people are having the problem so there will probably be a TSB soon enough.
As far as the window scratch, if it wasn't there before the tint, I would take it back to the tinting place. You'll probably be wasting your time at the dealer because they had nothing to do with it and chances are they won't hesitate to tell you so.
There's a TSB thread (actually it's a sticky) that you can refer to for actual TSB #'s and brief descriptions of the symptoms.
Either way.. I wish you the best.. it stinks to have these little quirks with a new vehicle but it's still a nice car nonetheless. Enjoy!

Ok yeah, I will take your advice into consideration also. I don't want them poking around trying to figure it out. I guess at least the only thing I could do is let them know so that it is documented that there was a problem. Then when the TSB comes out, I'll definitely get it fixed right.
I know this is an old topic, but I just got my windows tinted and had the vertical scrathes ....lots of them. so, the tinter showed me that the inside 'regulator' or gasket is hard rubber compared to previous stangs i had which had a felt lining. He is going to sell me the felt lining and install it for 40$ and replace the tint for free. Just thought i would update this so all can know.
