I searched the forums thoroughly and didn't find anything on this.
I found it very exciting. It was in the May issue of Automotive Design and Production magazine. If it's already made its rounds I apologize in advance.

If the fuel economy can be just as good and the weight lower than the current mustang cobra's 5.4. Why would the SVT team not choose the V10 engine? A V-10 Mustang Boss 351 would be great!

The cost of fully developing a production-ready engine would be one reason. Despite all its similarities to the Mod V8 those 2 extra pistons make a big difference. Personally, I've been salivating over this engine since the Motor Trend Story first broke.......

That's not a 90-day, 3000-mile guarantee, is it, Kevin?

$55K+? Ouch. I'd buy a used Jag first. But Kevin, what is your source for this?

the 557-lb. (dressed) 351 V10
Here is what I found for weight on a 4.6L DOHC all aluminum: 464 lb, fully dressed and 437 lb. without accessories.
So an iron block super chared 03/04 Mustang Cobra engine must weigh about 550 lb fully dressed.

I bet that if the V10 makes it into anything, it will be the Ford GT or the Shelby Cobra, if the Shelby Cobra makes it to production.
I entirely suspect that Ford will give us a 5.0L 3V or 4V Mod motor for special edition Mustangs, making 350-375hp, then offer a supercharger on top of that engine for the top of the line SVT Mustang.
A V10 in a production anything Mustang would be very cool, but very expensive and very hard to sell. The last thing Ford needs is to dilute Ford GT sales, or Ford Shelby Cobra's, by offering a better and more advanced engine in the Mustang. Again, I would expect any V10 to go only in the Ford GT or Shelby Cobra for the money you spend.
What would be really cool is to see them offer it in the Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog with all needed wiring and mounts to fit a Mustang or street-rod, but still unlikely at the cost for limited production.
The FACT that Ford is offering the "Cammer 5.0" in the very near future in the FRPP catalog should speak VERY loudly to everyone, as parts of that expense are usually not done unless they are volume production piece.
Look for a 5.0L Cammer in the near future. for the Mustang, but not the V10. :jedi:

The 5.0 cammer is an expensive piece, it retails in the 14,000.00 range for the FRRP unit.
A 351cid 3v SOHC aluminum V10 would be very nice in the same tune as the GT, your looking at 375 HP. work on the heads a bit and give it some more aggressive cams (lobes and lift) along with a bit more rev capability and 400 hp would be a snap.

I agree with Tony. Remember, Ford put the 5.8 in a Cobra R in 95, and no other one after that. Also, they put the 5.4 in Cobra R in 2000, so I think like Kevin said, the chances that it will end up in a high end mustang is pretty darn good. Unfortunately, most of us will only be able to stand there slack-jawed looking at it on the lot.
