Last night I headed over to my local Ford dealer to drive a 05 GT. When I got there not only was I disapointed because they only had a V6, I got into an arguement with one of the dealers.

Based on his facts:

- 05 V6 is *faster* then 04 GT
- New V6 dropped 60lbs off the old one (?)
- Mustang will NOT be mass-produced
- Ford is only making a limited ammount of cars until August next year (him trying to justify the markup after I told him I refuse to pay over MSRP on a mass-production vehicle).
- A special vehicle # would be assigned to each Mustang bought in the next few months making them "collectors" editions, which will in turn keep their resale value up.
- There's no 5-speed automatic, only a 4-speed.
- No IUP package, that's just what the GT's "have".
- V6 has 230ft. lbs torque not 240.

That's all I can remember for now, it was an interesting night for sure His defense was "don't believe everything you read". Oh well, I'll be back Saturday morning to drive a black 5-speed manual, just need to find someone else to go on the test drive with

It always amazes me how little many sales people know about the cars, like whenever I talk to one, I just sit back and listen to the B.S. they spit out just to see how full of **** they really are. Makes me laugh sometimes, especially when I know more about a product that they are supposed to be selling to me. Then again, I'm the dork on the internet all day longer looking this stuff up when I should be working.

What I respected about one salesperson I met while inquiring about the '05 was she admitted that she doesn't know that much and Ford hadn't given her any literature at the time. I would rather hear that than get a pile of bs.

All car salespeople should be car enthusiasts like us, and this problem would be greatly reduced.

Ask him if he's willing to bet a GT at invoice if he's wrong! And if not:

I agree! At least then they'll know what they're talking about rather than try to feed you pure **** leakage.

I was surprised also at the lack of knowledge they also had

watching them climb around the inside to unlock the truck.. I had to inform the dude its on the key chain..

and it went on from there, I was like talking about there other new models,, the 500 and the up coming Fusion,, dude was like whats that..

so look at it like this, they are there to make money.

I'll wait awhile for the hype to die down and get my house first.

Towards the end of my visit I told him I only stopped by because the woman who answered the phone said there was a GT available to test drive. I realized she was probably mistaken on the way over, but went anyways.

The salesman started going off about how incompetant woman are and can't tell the difference between a mustang and a truck, I found it pretty ironic
