Got my car Thursday (I've already put 770 miles on it) and my dealer called today to see how I liked it. I love it. I also mentioned my dad would be in later today to order his. He asked if he would also use X-plan. I said yes. He then informed me that he could put the order in now, but that Ford has put a low priority on X-plan purchases and it will take longer to get built than regular special orders.

Can someone who works at a dealership verify that X-Plan orders are taking a back seat to regular orders at the Plant level? Or is this guy telling me just what his dealership is doing, and trying to say that all of Ford is doing this?

EDIT: For convertible people, he also said production was being pushed back 2 months (starting production in March, not January).

All orders go into the sytem in 1 of 3 codes.

Order type 1- Fleet
Order type 2 - Stock
Order type 3 - Customer Special order

There is not any preference whether it is a retail sale, A Plan, or X plan. Ford does not care who is buying the car just as long as it counts in their sales column. And the plant doesn't care because they don't get anything extra. They just need to produce cars.

The dealer is the one who would want retail sales to be delivered first fince they have the chance to gouge someone and make more cash for themselves. Ford will make the same amount of profit on each vehicle no matter who buys it. I bought my new Mustang on A-Plan and received it within 8 weeks of ordering.

Sounds like the dealer is just trying to mess with you so your dad will pay more for the car and therefore their dealer profit and salesman commission is higher.

Tell the guy he is full of S**t.

This is what I was thinking, except the dealers get re-imbursed for plan orders. The money has to come from somewhere. That's the only part that confused me.

Do you work at a dealership, Ryan?

Where's karpro, kevin or bek when you need them!!!

Ford doesn't even know how your paying for it when they are building it, they dont get that info, nor do they care. It is the dealer that orders it that prioritizes the orders and several are doing just that, putting plans at the back of the list because they dont make any money on them and they would rather be getting in on the markup action now while it is still hot; in other words he is full of sh!t. My xplan got a priority 10 which from what I hear is the best you can get without having had them already mess up on something you ordered and making you wait even longer.

He is probably saying he is going to set a higher priority to your fathers car so he gets his cars in before your fathers.

The factory doesn't care wether it is a/z/d/x-plan, sold order or stock order. The only thing they watch is the priority, the commodity issues and the v6 vs gt mix. Ordering it x-plan won't have a bearing, if it did you could just put the order through as a regular sold order and then buy it at x-plan when it arrived.

That dealer is a knuckle-head. Add him to the list of sales guys that don't know what they are talking about.

I dont know for sure, but....

I ordered on 10/19 and dont even have a build date yet! I know of others on this forum that ordered later than me and have build dates.

The difference??? my Priority is 10, BUT my Order Type is "X". I do have XPlan. Maybe that is how Ford can tell... ??

I know I am getting frustrated..... I am a patient person, but dang! is this a test?

I stopped by a dealer today and asked about X-Plan. He said X-Plan wasn't available on the Mustangs. I told him he should actually do some research before telling his customers lies.

A certain procedure came to mind too....

I don't think a single dealership can order more than one car at the same priority.

You think you are getting impatient. I ordered on 9/22 & has an even lower priority than a 10. In fact it's in Ford's expodite order bank. My GM has been on the phone to everyone he can think of including the guy who pulls & schedules the orders & still NOTHING. I am still on a hold for IUP. My 05 order is supossed to replace my 03 lemon through Ford. So, the good news is when/if they finally left the holds mine should be the 1st V6 premium order pulled to be made.

But still. I feel you pain. It's extremely frustrating. I think we all need to organize a march in front the factory in MI & refuse to leave till they give us straight answers. :bang:

Hey Bruce..... I gotta retract almost all previous statements----- I have struck Gold in a car salesman.

Hey, I was in last week and he was taking a test on the mustang- I read it and would have scored a 35 of 36, and missed one because there is one trick question on it about interior space.......of the 4 choices none are completely correct.

Find a dealer who will tell you the truth and order it from him. I ordered mine in July on x plan and the dealer didn't have a problem with it and told me straight out. I realize these cars are hot sellers but the dealers need to be honest with customers and say so. I can respect a dealer who will tell it like it is. They (the dealers) can refuse the plans or just give you a lower priority but just Be Honest Guys! My two cents

All I ask is the salesman know the product he is selling..........

Don't lie to make a sale....
Don't pressure you into taking something you don't want.......
Salesmen will tell you you're wrong even if you are 100% correct, until they turn blue in the face.

Yes, yesterday I was a donkey named jack too, but He was not my salesman(mine had went back inside out of the rain), and he just came up to me while I was perusing the wares and flat out tried to make a lying line to get me to sign papers...If he is still there come summertime he's gonna be surprised.

On the bright side, my salesman and 2mustangjohn too told me one half of my dream car has resumed production- MANUALLLLLLL

gotta have my manual vert!!
