i just dont want to get quotes because each quote puts a credit check on my report for each one and each credit inquiry costs 5 points

Progressive is really good to me. They quoted me an increase in my current rates of $240 every 6 months for a new GT. That's with a multicar discount, I'm 38, single, no accidents or tickets.

That doesn't happen to me, I get quotes on Progressive, Geico, you name it and it doesn't show any dings. The credit checks don't even come up. I think those credit checks are like credit card flyers, they don't hurt your credit. Only opening a bank account, or getting a loan will ding you.

You made me panic, and I check just my credit on Equifax.com to make sure.

I quoted several companies, and no one could compare to AAA. You have to pay the $50+ dollars a year to be a member (which has the perks of maps, towing, etc), but the rates make up for it. I"ll be switching my homeowners policy over also and get nearly twice the coverage for about what I'm currently paying at State Farm. Overall savings on my auto insurance are around 35%! AAA rates are dependent upon your credit score and your driving record, so if both are in good shape, you'll get very competitive, if not unbeatable, rate quotes.

There are three credit reporting agencies. Equifax is but one of them. There is also TransUnion and Experian. I'm pretty sure that, if you checked one of the other two, you'd find a hard pull.

Yes, I have seen inquiries on my report when I called a few years ago. I'm not 100% sure, but I was told that if you do multiple checks in a short period of time, its looked at as one instance.

I was quoted 125 a month, full coverage, 500 deductible with State Farm -3 tickets, no accidents, 26years old, live in a big city, been with them for 10 years, I also have my renters insurance with them which gets a discount on car insurance.

i was thinking about state farm and will probably go with them once the car comes in

doesn't matter if you live in a big city unless that city is NYC.. we get the "stuff to do penalty" =p

tri state is really cheap but the requirements are HUGE to get accepted.

We have USAA and have been very happy with them. Hubby has used them since the early 80's. I don't know how they compare price wise to others though.

Nobody beats them, I have them too. BUT you have to be either active duty military, retired military, a veteran discharged after a certain date, the spouse of a military member...etc.

No military affiliation anywhere, you can't get in.

I used to have a 1999 Mustang 5-speed V-6 and AAA was charging me around $1600 (more or less) per year, so in 2003 I got a letter from Mercury and called them for a quote. I can't remember what they quoted for the V-6, but that rates were so good for the V-6 I asked about insuring a GT...and they quoted about $40 more per year with higher liability amounts then AAA charged me for a V-6 Mustang.

When I got my 05 in December Mercury said my rates would be lower on the 05 then I was paying for my 03.

I just got my renewal application from Mercury and I'm paying $632.90 every 6 months ($1265.80) for the year on a 2005 Mustang GT.
