Cool

I just got my insurance statement for the month, and my premium actually went down about $100. I changed it over from a 2000 VW Golf, to the 2005 Mustang GT! I would have thought it would go up, not down. I am not complaining though. Just wanted to let you all know. Later.

Andy.... If you kept the same $$$ insurance limits that were on your VW Golf, then I would think your insurance company/agent made a mistake, and they will rectify it. There is no way in that a GT Mustang is going to be lower with the same limits (and an '05 over a '00 to boot) IMO. I have an absolutely flawless driving record of no tickets or accidents in over 30 years, and my insurance is going up $400 per year for the GT over my current '02 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 (same coverage limits). High performance car = higer insurance cost. Now, if it were an '05 V-6...maybe B) Enjoy your car Andy

My insurance from 2001 Bullitt to 05 GT is $128. year more(Primarily the added Collision) so I can live with that.

Yeah, mine jumped from $748/year to $1674/year. That's what you get when you jump from a '97 to a '05 plus add 100 hp.

Andy, I would hold the money you saved on the side. That way when the insurance company figures out the mistake, you can cough up the difference.

Heh, my insurance will be going up from about 250/year to about 1800/year. The difference in horsepower is from 25 to 300. Yeah so i'm sure my car isn't 25, but if i found out that it actually was then i wouldn't be surprised...

There is really no point in everyone listing how much they were quoted. There are too mnay other factors, like everyone's individual limits, etc... as well as age, driving record. Fact is though... I think it's fair to say most people's insurance will be going up... especially if they drove a 2000 Golf previously.

My insurance premium went down when I went from a '94 V6 Mustang and bought a '02 Grand Prix new. That was one that surprised me.

Just be glad you are not in Canada. I have a flawless record and at age 33 I will now fork out $2,088/yr for the GT.

My current 2003 Jeep only costs me $1188.00 a year. Talk about a jump in price. I would have thought the price we be close since SUV's have a high roll-over rate.

I really hate insurance increased. When I bought my 97 GT brand new in 97 I only paid $756.00 /year.

Would you mind telling me what insurance company you use?

I'm currently paying $1,200/year for my 2000 Mustang V6 and about $550/year for my 1997 Intrepid.

If I could get same quote for 2005 GT that would be great.

I'm 4 years younger than you, and I have clean driving record (no accidents or tickets).

I think I got u all beat! Right now for may Camaro I pay $2,200 a year and now for my GT its going to jump $600 with a grand total of $2,800. Thank god I'm not keeping my Camaro around when I get my GT~ One of the BIG reasons my insur is so high is because I’m only 19, but I haven't had any (accidents or tickets).

I have 100,000/300,000/100,000 limits across the board and full coverage (500 deductible). Flawless driving record, and my insurance will go up $400 per year with the GT Mustang to a grand yearly total of $1162. Oh well, you only live once, right? Consider this my pre-purchase of a 4-wheel casket...

That's a fact...... B) No way can a new high horsepower car be less to insure than a 5 year-old volkswagen......not with the same coverage anyway.

It went down, but I was paying about $2500/year before. Now I will be paying about $1300/year. We have been with our same insurace company since I was young, so we have a good record. I am only 19 as well, so well see what happens. I sure as heck hope it is not a mistake.

That sounds way to low for a 19 year old. What are your limits set at? Make sure they are enough to cover the car. I'm getting about 1300 for 6 months, at 21, and thats with my old car as my "daily driver" and the stang as just a luxury vehicle.

I am expecting mine to stay the same or go down. I am in the lowest risk group I can possibly be in. My driving record is completely clean, I am married, a homeowner, over age 25, I get a multi-car discount, and the Mustang will be a recreation vehicle not a DD.

Plus I am going to buy a couple of acres in Brenham, TX which is outside of Way-Too_Expensive Harris county. When I do that I will list the Mustang's registry there. Then the ins will go down by a good bit.
