Now that we have some cars at the dealers I decided to call my insurance agent today and he gave me a quote. $773 for 6 months. and $248 for 6 months while it's being stored in the winter.

That's for a pretty well loaded gt without side airbags. Not sure if there is much of discount for that or not. That is for a "pleasure vehicle" and under my wifes name and she is 31 yrs old and no tickets. (4 years older than me)

Meemic Insurance Company.

$121/month for my '05 GT and my wife's MPV minivan from AIG. I think I can get a 15% discount from there for window etching. We each had 1 ticket in the last 5 years and I traded a little paint with a bozo that passed me on the shoulder last year.

How much can a 19yr old expect (independent from parents)? How about for an older car (read: junky 60's beetle)?

Go to AIG's website and enter your info. I got my quote back from them right away.

@ $70 a month from State Farm. Ive been with them since I started driving. It beats the other quotes @ $100 per month.

Remind me to move to Colorado!

Don't ever come down this way.... $930 6mo.

It will likely come down a little as this will not end up being a primary car now.

The seemingly stupid $200 or so window etch actually DOES help most insurance rates, and DOES deter professional theft. Side airbags, the active anti theft, and abs(for V6'rs) pay for themselves quickly. I wouldnt skip any of those options.

It will come down to updated NHTSA crash test results(which of course will be much better), and added safety features to determine the new car's rates. They should be a little less. There are specific reasons for the factory wheel theft and anit-theft options fro the new car, allong with the factory rating staying at 300 hp dead even. Insurance is the top one. I just checked, its not tested yet. They have to buy one at a dealer first, they do not use factory-supplied models. Their headquarters are near here, they have bought vehicles and stopped by to do specific specification tests from us before. One guy was checking headrests in one of our 500's about a week ago.

Heh same post for the us version of the thread.......

Brooklyn, NY Full coverage $2480/6months from GEICO. I'm 32 with 1 fender bender (not at fault) in 2000. I pretty much have to move! Bklyn has some of the highest rates nationwide.
