insurance rates in the bay area aren't cheap either. I'm 20, perfect driving record, good student discount and I still got quoted 3600 for 1 year. And I only quoted the V6!!!!!!!!! Insurance rates are way too high these days. Wish I had enough money to insure myself.

Also an interesting note: I quoted Geico and it was 4300 for 6 months. Then I changed the gender to female (everything else the same) and it dropped to 3600!!!!!!! $700 more just for me being a male? I think that is discrimination against males. If they did insurance rates based on race that would be discrimination, so then why isn't it discrimination when they base it on gender? End of Rant.

From: Southern New Jersey
I live in New Jersey and my rate for Full conerage on a GT is 1200/6mo. I do have 2 speeding tickets and 2 accident's, one of which was my fault. i am 27 yrs old and I have my insurance though the same company as my parent's but I carry my own policy. The company is State Farm.

When i lived in the bay area i thought my insurance was expensive for my 83 mustang 5.0 (i was 18 and perfect record and i was payin $117 a month for full coverage. I moved to phoenix and i was payin $170 for liability only lol.
They use facts for the male female thing. Males cause more accidents from showin off, while females cause more because of "bad driving".

EDIT: I find it odd geico is so much for you there, when here, where i pay more for insurance, geico is only $802 for 6mo

I think the credit score affects rates in many states and it is probably widespread. I know USAA had to pull my credit report to give me an accurate score.

Ive always had my credit score pulled for insurance rates. Only good thing is it doesnt go as an "inquirey" (spelling?) on your credit report.
