I'm so close!

Ugh, I can feel it! After church on Sunday, me and my dad rolled on down to the local Ford dealership to look around. There are three new '06s sitting out front, a Redfire GT, a Vista Blue V6, and a Torch Red V6 with the Pony Package. He spent an hour and a half looking between the three, and when we got home, he asked if we could make one online. We went off at Ford.com, and we've been talking all week about maybe getting one, and buying a small Honda or Toyota for my mother. This is a long deserved treat for my father; he's been driving the same Toyota pick-up for 19 years.
If we do get one, this will be the exact ride:

23.195 for a V6?
I got my GT 24k sticker, 21.5k after X-plan and a rebate.
Splurge for the GT!!!!

how much was the rebate?
And how much would my x-plan take off on my 07 GT priced at just under $27K?

Gah, I would, but my father is all concerned about gas. And he says 210 HP (V6 has 210, right?) is enough. Hahaha. He was shooting for a Passat, or a TL, and he thinks the $23k is perfectly fine, compared to them. But, either way, we may have a Mustang. I'd be happy to have a beater Mustang II, for goodness' sakes.

Congrats. Get the car you want. Gt's are awsome cars, but the V6 is a really nice one as well and it is still a MUSTANG!
Also, 21.5k for a GT is a sick deal, but one that i'm sure very few people will find. Heck, dealers here still got markups on them...

I was sick and shocked at the amount the mustangs have went up around here. I paid 21,255 for mine in 04. Now the same one is 3k more.
Course, they do have the Hertz turn ins for 16k at the dealer I refuse to shop at
And yes- the fusions== Except for the Euro Taillights.

Congrats.
I have a V6 with a pony package (5-speed) and I have been amazed at the power, handling and smoothness of this car. I previously had an 01, DHG Bullitt & owned 94 and 96 Cobras. For daily transportation, the 06 is the best of the lot. (The Bullitt was loud; the 94 with its high gearing was weak; the 96 was great but was "arrest me red. " You didn't dare get over the posted speed limit.)
Gas mileage will be about the same for the V6 & GT and the previous poster is probably correct about resale value. But one big difference is insurance. From your post and the comments about you father, I suspect you are still in the "young man, very high insurance for a muscle car" category.
The point of all this, I guess, is you are getting a really nice vehicle. It's is a Mustang, has as much power as the 87-91 GT's, and with the pony package has everything of significance of the GT, except those extra two cylinders. And, at the risk of igniting a flame war, we might argue that the pony grill and the black rocker panel moldings look better than the GT.
Plus, you've got plenty of time to aspire to and own that GT!
Enjoy.
