Im Sad and Happy, its like being microwaved.
Hello everyone!
I am very much new to this forum and to the Mustang world and sports cars in general.
I go to the University of Nevada Las Vegas and have been in Vegas for three years. To make a long story short, some douche bag stole my 2002 Dodge Intrepid right from my parking space in my "Gated and Secured" apartment complex. Who steals a basic, run of the mill Intrepid? I've had that car since I was 15 years old. I called it Two Tons of Fun. I learned how to drive in that car. Needless to say, I had a lot of sentimental value in that thing.
I had to wait three long agonizing weeks for my insurance company to total it out while im driving the worlds smallest rental. A Pontiac G5. If anyone here knows about the Intrepid, you know that the G5/Cobalt will fit in the trunk of an Intrepid.
Anyways, to the point. I basically needed to find a new car. I decided I wanted something completely opposite of what I had. That meant: two doors, manual transmission, and more power. I narrowed it down to an LS1 trans am, LS2 GTO, and a Mustang GT. I eventually decided on a Mustang after a Spirited test drive from a nissan dealer selling a used Redfire 07 gt of all places. I looked on Carmax after having a pretty decent buying experience with my girlfriends car, and where i got the intrepid as well. I found a mint, 2007 HP California Special located in Texas. I went on and put the transfer deposit down and have been playing the waiting game. I decided to drive past Carmax tonight to see if it arrived over the weekend. (The internet sales guy is great, but was off this weekend) There it was sitting is in the front lot looking like a bad @$$ next to the Camry parked adjacent.
I am giddy as hell and cant wait to drive it. I cant wait to simply go cruising with the V8 power and awesome 500watt sound system.
The only thing that sucks is that the intrepid was paid off and I was getting used to not having a car note. Oh well, I have a sweet mustang now and look foward to chatting with everyone, and learning from you all as well.
Until I get some better pics here is a crappy cell phone picture. Words cannot describe the excitement i'm feeling.
Now....to Stinger, or not to Stinger, that is the question.

Welcome to the forum. That really stinks about your 'Trep but it allowed you to buy the CS and believe me when I say you won't be disappointed. I owned a 300M before my Mustang and can sympathize with you on what will/won't be different as well as what is better/not so much. I'll tell you this! I used to get away with almost everything in my 300M. Now in the Mustang, I have calmed down because it gets me quite a bit of attention. Let's see how it works out with you.
Welcome gone-n-60! It's always "I've got some bad news and some good news" the bad news is...well ....bad! Sorry to hear about the theft
.The good news is you'll have a smile on your face for a LOOOOng time
ENJOY!

My bride's car is an Intrepid R/T. She likes it a lot. She likes the Mustang too, but a bum knee makes the clutch hard for her.
The Intrepid is a great car with the 3.5L V6. But the Mustang is a rocketship by comparison. Enjoy yourself - carefully. It is rather different than what you are used to!

Thanks everyone, I'm going to pick it up in an hour. I felt microwaved like being hot and cold at the same time, like those crappy microwavable sandwiches. I hope that the Trep' was taken to a chop shop in Mexico. At least that way it was a well traveled car that is helping other Intrepids flourish. I'm still in shock that I'm getting a car with a V8 instead of the old tried and true 2.7 little engine that could.
I called the sales guy and told him that I didn't tresspass per-say, but I saw my new baby sitting there, He responded he took a look at it this morning and said it was mean as hell.

Oh my god, this car is of the wall bonkers!!!

I'm beside myself, I've already gone through a third of a tank of gas. My insurance jumped sixty bucks but I knew this going in to the deal. Holy crap, the videos of the stock exhaust at idle do the car no justice at all!!!
Stoenr, what part of the burbs are you from. I'm from Glendale Heights and plan on moving back soon. I'm starting to think my car was stolen because it had a White Sox front plate plaque.
Before I took the car off of the lot, I set everything up to how I wanted (mycolor and radio settings.) My girlfriend loves it so much, she wants to get a matching 4.0 to park next to mine.

Congrats!
You basically describe the feeling I have every day I drive Awesome, Randall. I'm so lucky to have her, **** the gas/insurance bill... the smile on my face as I walk out to her from work is worth every single dang penny. Enjoy, and take care of your new ride.
And the GF is mistaken, she needs a V8 too... but in black, so they're like piano keys, side by side in perfect harmonyyyy...
