Okay:

First off, GREAT NEWS IMO. Yes, it isn't 280-290rwhp but its close.

So here are the numbers:

275rwhp and 295rwtq = 323.5 fwhp and 347 lb-ft @ 15% losses

Second, most Mach 1's dyno between 270-275hp from what I've seen. A *few* have hit 280rwhp which might happen with a few 05's as well.
Not sure about the torque.

However, these are PEAK values. What it doesn't say is that the 05 will have more low end torque over the range than the Mach 1. The 05 weighs about 40lbs more which isn't very much.

I think these cars will be VERY VERY close in the 1/4 assuming the 05 DOESN'T need a 3rd to 4th shift. That is great news.

Okay, I checked. Mach 1 Registry has some Mach 1 dyno info.

See it HERE

The Mach 1 is putting out around 322hp and 341 ft-lb using 16% losses.

Using the same losses, the 05 puts out: 327.4hp and 351 lb-ft

If this is true, the 05 is actually more powerful/just as powerful as the Mach (as I know there are some Machs putting out a bit more than this).

However, by and large, Machs are NOT putting out more hp/tq than what is posted in the first thread.

I can't wait to see a dyno sheet just to have proof.

I can't wait to see an '05 beat a Mach 1 in the 1/4 time and time again.

Eh....I wouldn't go THAT far. I'm hoping that it will depend on the driver, but the Mach 1 could still "on average" beat the 05 in the 1/4.

Depends on what the 05 is really dynoing, the 3rd to 4th shift (have to or not?) etc...

Either way, it should be close.

Tony is partly right about the 280rwhp for the mach though...some have dynoed this much after a break in of a few thousand miles. But who knows what the 05 will do after a few 1000 miles.

Anyways, its too close to call and we don't have a photo for the "photo-finish" as of yet.

Probably a "Mach 1 vs. 2005 GT" article will appear in the next 8 months.

Dan , I'm going to have to say that you are correct!

If you remember about two weeks ago, before the Innovation drive came to Southern California (Irwindale Speedway), I said that I would do my best to test a Mach 1 before my 1:30 Pm time slot on September the 2nd. Well I was able to test a 03 Mach 1 in Fontana, Ca the day before and in my comparison I would have to say that the Mach 1 just felt like it pulled a little harder out of 1st and 2nd. Granted my road test of the 05 lasted about 40 seconds and I was not able to get out of 2nd gear due to track layout, I would still have to give the edge to the Mach, but then again I am NO expert.

I really want an SE or Cobra, but if the GT is running at least 13.8 in the Quarter mile, I think I am sold on a GT!
Hard to beat the overall performance for the price! A great value at $26k-27k!!!

On 87 octane gas, this is an amazing result...I think it will be close.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if you're feeling more top-end pull with the Mach (it will have a bit more). But off the line, the 05 should feel stronger/similar? Was that the case?

It could also have been that you ran the Mach 1 up the gears more than once and got used to it. That coupled with the fact that you couldn't shift into 3rd may have caused it to feel a bit weaker since you couldn't run 2nd all the way up and probably had to ease off at the top of the rpm range.

Either way, it should be interesting. If we are talking a tenth or two difference in the quarter, I don't mind. Half a second would leave me disappointed.

The 05 is 20lbs heavier than the Mach. Im still curious on powerband, and if the aerodynamics will play anything on the 05 compared to the Mach1. Other than that I see a good race with the 2.

The Mach 1 still has that B.A. shaker, though.

And four valves per cylinder really works wonders for top end. That's where my Mark VIII really shines.

one thing I never really understood well about cars were gears. I dont understand why people are saying "tall gears will be awesome" (like 4.10's), but will be crappy for 1/4 mile?

the taller the gear, the faster you accelerate, but sooner you have to shift? explain please

I say 4.10s or 4.30s, those would be plain silly in this car!!

Funny I picked up the brouchure and I like how in one section about the rear axle set up, it says "Rear axle ratios are easily changed, an important consideration for racing enthusiasts"
I say 4.10's...But I'd easily go w/ the 4.30's if there just one more gear

They are just saying that you will be crossing the line in 4th instead of 3rd, thus an extra shift while going down the track. But, it should NOT make your car slower in the 1/4 unless you completely blow at driving! I've found that 4th gear is the easiest to shift to, and could very easily be power-shifted

On another note...It perplexes me on how many people here didn't know the difference from rwhp and flywheel hp, and now gears. I now realize why we have so many fanboys...they eat up all this info and hype like cake :P

Everybody who knows something found out somewhere. This is as good a place as any. Lots of people are interested in Mustangs for reasons other than blasting down a drag strip, or the V6's wouldn't sell so well.

Personally, I'm a cruiser, not a racer.

I too cant wait to have an 05 dyno sheet next to the Mach1 one. I want to see how different the 3valves are on a powercurve.
