I want a Shaker 750 system

I find the Shaker 1000 sub too loud for my taste. I'd prefer to have only one of the two subs working. Is it safe to just unplug one at the box? Is there a better place to disconnect? I don't want to screw up the radio as I know it uses self-tests for trouble-shooting. I don't want to see lights flashing, bell's a-ringing or modules blowing up, lol.

I take it you've tried turning the bass down from the headunit?

Yes, but it cuts bass and some mids from the other speakers as well.

Is there any way to install a bass controller specifically for the in-trunk subs?
