I have had my stang awhile now (2nd one on this site I believe) and not too many problems until recently. 2 weeks ago I took my car downtown to be used in the filming of a local college project. I parked it, filming took place, and I was ready to leave. I got in the car, turned the key..."click-click". The display was full of gibberish and error message after error message began to display. I checked everything...battery was fine, fuel cap on tight, etc.

About 10 mins later, it started right up. I turned it off and tried to start it...nothing. So I had it towed to the dealer...where the service department reprogrammed the computer. No worries.

This morning I left for work, got about a half mile and the car just died while driving!! There I was in the middle of a busy intersection. A friend saw me and we tried to push-start it, but for some reason it wouldn't work (computer? anti-theft system?) . So I waited in the middle of the road for 2 hours until a tow-truck could take me to the dealer. This time it is there overnight.

The service tech said that 2 other GT's had been there for the same problem. Anyone else heard of this?

It might just be that you have a bad computer. That wouldn't make your car a lemon. All they would have to do is replace the computer. Just because reprograming the computer didn't work doesn't mean they can't fix it. If the computer is bad, no amount of reprograming is going to help. Now, if they replace the computer and it keeps hving problems, I would be worried.

Sounds like the ignition modular went bad. I had a Mercury Ln7 do this to me all the time until I splurged $8.00 for the modular. I'm sure this isn't the problem, but it's exactly what my old car would do. It would stall at a stop light. My wife and I would push it off the side of the road. Car would turn over and over and over. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, and vrooooom. So I then got smart(sarcasm) and traded that in for a Merkur Scorpio. I should've just turned my wallet over to the Ford dealership and said have at it. Take what ever you want. Ohwell, sorry for the rant. Good luck with the GT and let us know what you find out.

Had a GT at my dealership that came of the hauler and would not start. I ordered a new PCM and the car hasn't been back. That was about 4 or 5 weeks ago.

A bad crank sensor can do this as well. I had this same issue before, driving and just die. Wait a while and restart. Slapped in a Crank sensor all good. good luck.

I thought you were selling your car because you were going to grad school, or was that someone else?

Hey Justin, I thought you were gonna sell it?

It's under warranty, don't worry about these things until a month after the warranty expires.

Man, THAT'S a little premature!

Probably just a bad EEC unit, quick swap and he'd good to go!
