I replace my condenser (How much oil and refrigerant do I need to add)

I had to replace my condenser because of an accident.

I have the 2005 Mustang workshop manual. Replacing the condenser was easy but the manual doesn't say how much oil or refrigerant to add to the system after you replace the condenser.

the car an 05

how much oil and refrigerant do I need to add to the system.
the oil leaked out of the system after the accident.

If you don't know how much oil you lost, you really need to do a full flush, then add the appropriate amount to the dry system. It's usally right on the compressor itself, but I don't know what's on the S197 Stang. Regarding the refrigerant, I usually put in a couple pounds then top off based on the running pressures. Do you have a vacuum pump? If not, leave the whole job to an A/C shop as you'll surely do more harm than good if you're winging it.

When you open the system its a good idea to replace the drier/accumulator.

+1
.
I have changed out a system without a vacuum pump (not recommended).
I flushed it with r134, changed the drier afterwards, refilled it with r134, bled off the air and more r134, filled it,then bled it
Then I made sure it had the right amount of oil in it and filled it with r134 while checking the pressure in the line with a cheap gauge.
The system worked for many years after that.

Usually you have to add 2oz. of oil for every major component replaced in system.

I'm not so sure that rule of thumb applies when there's a rapid release of refrigerant as there likely was in this case. When you lose the refrigerant very quickly it often carriers oil out with it.
