Congrats! It's a great feeling. I retired from GE, when I did, I took a chunk of my 401K and wrote a check for my 2006 GT 'vert. Biggest check I ever wrote; my hand was shaking as I wrote it. Drove off the lot the owner.

Thanks everyone! I've got to say, its a great feeling. This is the first car I ever bought and its been two and a half of the happiest driving years of my young life. I went to my dealer at about 9pm after having headache after headache with a Nissan dealer as I was looking at a used 350Z. The salesperson came over and I told her I wanted a GT, leather required, exterior color black, windveil blue or yellow and it must be manual. I had driven a few manual cars at this point, but it had been so long that I didn't even test drive the car. They brought out a windveil blue and my CS. Though the windveil was better optioned with the Shaker1000 and heated seats and had a similar price tag, the look of the CS is what sold me. The wheels, the front/rear ends, and especially the interior. Two-tone. I didn't test drive the car because I wasn't confident enough in my manual skills, so I had my boyfriend do it. Less than 10 miles on the odometer we took it out and I knew it would be mine, even though I couldn't drive it. I signed the papers the very next day and proceeded to not drive it home. I did learn how to drive it that night though.

This car makes me smile all day, every day. I still turn back to look when i'm walking away. This is my dream car, the car i've wanted since I was about 7 years old. The Mustang is the first car I ever noticed, the first car I ever remembered the sound of. Dreams do come true, so long as you work for them.

Congratulations! I do have to thank my wife for letting us by our '07 GT outright. She deserves the props. All our cars we try really hard to pay off in two years time and we succeeded. Now, if we can only finish with that mortgage! 5 years to go!!!

Now go enjoy that Stang! Mine was all clean and looking pretty this morning. When I left the gym early this a.m., an unexpected thunderstorm dumped on the Stang. So, tonight, i get the joy of cleaning her again!

Honestly, I haven't even considered buying a car outright with some of the interest rates that have been available the past couple of years. Had 0% on my Tundra, and not much more than that on my Sequoia!

Its a nice feeling to not owe a cent the minute you take her off the dealer's lot regardless of low interest rates.

I'm writing my final payment November 1st. I can't wait. Having that money out of the monthly budget will be a great relief.

Congrats by the way!!

Eh, I started buying new in 2004 (owned all my cars outright before then) and I don't really mind having a payment as long as my overall money is being used wisely. It's not really an inconvenience for me, and leaves cash open for savings, investment, etc. At 0%, it's free money, IMO.

Just a difference in ideology, that's all.

I got to see my COO before I saw my car.
Because...
I signed my loan before it arrived and started payments the week it arrived.
That helped to pay it off fast.
Maybe it was only 22 months to pay mine off?
Screw paying off the house...
I need a 2nd MUSTANG!!!

Yep, that was my decision. I came to that realization and brought home the Triple Black the next day

But, being that the TB will be paid off in about 2 weeks, I'm starting to wonder how upset my wife would be with a 3rd Stang coming home, like maybe a Mach 1 or '01 Bullitt... Car payment is already in the budget...

Nah, I kinda like being married. Or, I kinda like not having an alimony payment. One or the other...

2 is probably enough. We've owned 2 of the same cars 4 times in the past several years (2 trucks, 2 Lightnings, 2 Mustangs, etc), and even though it was fun at the time, I think I'm done with it. It's more fun to have VARIETY in the garage! 2 of the same car is good, try something new this time

I don't know - I've been following this other thread by someone who picked up a red Fox and it seems like a heck of a lot of work...

After buying the Stang, we still put money away i its a discipline I learned from my wife. Buying the Mustang was one thing, paying for premier club soccer for 5 years is quite another. When that is over, then we'll REALLY start to save $$$.

Nice to have that out of the way. Over the last year, I have kicked in an extra 2.5G paying down my GT. Still have 13K to go. Maybe I can get it gone in another year but some how I am thinking 2. I have a 5 year loan that looks like I can retire in 3.
